The site I recently stumbled upon (see "Identify these vessels" in Cruise Ships) also has a page on Mayan Empress, which was until 1996 DFDS' Winston Churchill, a rather attractive (and well known) vessel. I'd lost track of what happened to her... And now I know! She was sold in 1996 and hasn't seen service since. Seems that this year her owners decided to send her in for a (minor) refit (apparently they were finally preparing her for something)... And didn't pay the bill! So now she's reposessed and for sale.

They have numerous rather unflattering views of her, including this one (note the blank white area where the former Scandinavian Seaways titles were):

I did 2 Cruises on her, in 1989 to the North Cape, starting in Esbjerg, Denmark for 9 Days and in 1992 to the Baltic Sea, starting in Travemünde, Germany, for 8 Days.

Both for German Marks 990 in the cheapest inside Cabin without privat Facilities in the lowest Deck.

The Food was good, as was the Dining Room.

The Cabin was extremely loud, primitive and small.

. I was rather surprised that it stayed stagant for so long.

Aside from the cabin (below the car deck I assume), what did you think of her? A rather attractive little ship, no?
