I'm probably a newcomer to this, but the Queen Mary 2 brochures can now be ordered free from Cunard's US website (cunard.com) The cover looks the same as the Special Edition brochures released earlier, but I doubt that Cunard could really afford to give away the exact same brochures to the general public, so I suppose a few changes were made. I just ordered one, so I'll just have to wait and see what they changed and/or omitted.

Now I'm curious.

I got mine on 12th. June (and booked on the 18th.) but I don't see anything "special" about it. Maybe I didn't get the "Special Edition"

I've heard two reasons why people recieved "special editions" 1. sailed with Cunard the previous year 2. booked the QM2 early
Colin, June is pretty early, so maybe a combination of the two is needed? Or maybe they ran out of the "Special Editions" and shipped a standard one instead? You should call Cunard's 800 number and find out just what you need to do to get a special edition- I don't know about you, but I'm a little confused.

Hello,

I ordered one a few days ago... Still hasn't arrived but we shall see.

I really do hope that it is the same as the Special Edition but I am pretty sure not.

Happy Cruising,
Cruiseny

Well! What do you know?

My "Collector's Edition" just arrived. The cover is printed on a different grade of paper and embossed, but other than that they appear, at first glance, to be identical.

It's only upon a closer inspection that differences are found. In the standard copy the pages are numbered 1-34, in the collector's edition the same pages are numbered 3-36!

I've only checked the first page but I've already spotted two differences: The standard one says, "In January 2004, QM2 will make her debut as a Queen amoung Queens, ..." The collector's one says, "...debut as the Queen of all Ocean Liners, ...". Further down the page the standard one reads, "Providing an opulent lifestyle for celebrities and tastemakers, ...", and the collector's, "...celebrities and socialites, ...".

I'm sure that there will be others as well, but I have to ask, "Why bother?"

If it didn't say "Collectors Edition" I wouldn't know the difference.

I received the standard edition last week... it is one of the nicest inaugural brochures I've ever seen- but the significance of the ship alone makes it worth having.

I have not see a "collectors edition" but my guess is that it is virtually identical, and created to make a small segment of faithful cunard passenger feel special- and to allow the lucky few who get a copy to make a killing on ebay.

My only disappointment with the brochure is the lack of exterior renderings of the ship. Other than a small oil painting on the inside cover, and the large side elevation (which is fantastic) there are no other views of what the ship will look like from other angles. The computer renderings of the interior or nice (although some are too small to really appreciate), but I would like to see more of the ship's exterior from forward, aft, and above.

I must say that I am really suprised and glad that there are not major differences between the standard brochure and the collectors edition. It sounds like Cunard went all out to make it truly worthy of introducing the world's greatest ship. I wonder what the standard brochure would go for on eBay? I can't wait till I get my brochure, I ordered it almost two weeks ago- should I be concerned?

Hi Britanis,
I ordered mine July 1st and it arrived in the mail today. I was beginning to wonder if I should re-order it again. It is by far the nicest Cunard brochure I have seen since I began collecting them back in 1979.

I was debating re-ordering it too, good to know that may not be necessary. I suppose the delay can be linked largely to the incredible demand? I guess I'll just have to be patient, and perhaps spend more time on this board (to take my mind off the brochure).

whew....after reading this i am glad that my brochures are somewhat the same as the collectors edition other than the difference in print here and there...i too beleive the renderings could have been a page size if not half...with some being used from onno's exterior renderings...they are spot on in detailing....too bad onno...the 3 pages of deck plans are a good size...which includes deck 13....and the rice paper..or whatever its called....mine was sent by UPS....to another address though...but i picked it up personally...jeff

For those that received their special edition brochures in the US, were the prices quoted in pounds or dollars? Mine came posted from UK and prices are in pounds. I live in Greenland but the address is a US address. Just curious.

It came today! (Well, actually yesterday, since I'm writing this after midnight). There is absolutely no major difference between the "standard" brochure and the special edition one. The brochure is most definately worth all the hype surrounding it (not sure if its worth the $300 they're selling for on eBay though ) Cunard must be spending a fortune making these things! I really don't know haw they can afford to just give them away, but they can, and as long as the price is right, I'm happy! In addition to the 34-page main brochure, there is also the 39-page "Welcome to the Queen" booklet detainlin her maiden season iteneraries, and the interior renderings are fantastic! Not much detail on the deckplans though (then again, which line does show detail), but the plans will certainly be improved on later brochures. All in all, Cunard have created a brochure that matches perfectly the grandeur of the ship it introduces.

Hello,

Mine came yesterday also... To be entirely honest I'm not really very impressed...

I am quite disappointed at the lack of exterior views, except for the profile of the ship. Also of course the afforementioned deck plans which are utterly poor.

The interior renderings are of outstanding quality, but unfortunately they often aren't of an angle of view that gives a good overview of the room in question - furthermore, most of them are absolutely tiny.

The graphic design is lovely but I don't like the material on which the cover is printed.

This is obviously a more-style-than-substance brochure - at least the main one.

The second brochure, "Welcome the Queen" is much better... Lovely designs and all the requisite pricing information, etc.

Unfortunately, my copy has been "bent, spindled, or mutilated" - really the latter - so I am now going to order another one, hopefully it will arive in pristine condition so I can put it in the bank vault ...

Happy Cruising,
Cruiseny

Hello,

I also ordered the QM2 brochure via the American Cunard site, this is almost a month ago. I got a confirmation of my request by e-mail. I wonder how long it will take to deliver the brochure to the Netherlands or if Cunard even bothers to send a copy over seas. I’m waiting eagerly every time the mail man comes by but no QM2 brochure.

Maybe faster if you use the UK site?

The UK site will still not accept a request for a QM2 brochure. UK brochures are not being released until 1 Aug, we cannot have one before then. I expect Onno is the same as us.

Oh. I figured that if we could get one you could too...but I suppose that is not a case.

Stupid if you ask me... I see absolutely no logic behind letting Americans have brochures and others not!

My first thought was to go to the UK site but indeed as Pam says the Brochure is still not available their. Why the US first??? I thought the QM2 would start her maiden voyage from Southampton you would expect that the major part of the passengers on that voyage will be Europeans.

Sad to say but I truly belief that Cunard is no longer British although they like to publish for PR reasons that they are.

Best, Onno

It just seems to be a bit of a shambles. A couple of TAs I've spoken to are not overly happy about the situation [they were being polite]. As you say Cunard is no longer British, and those who still thought of it as such have had their eyes opened.

Cunard may be British flagged (but started by a Canadian from Halifax) but headquarters are now in Miami (closer to Mother Carnival). So go figure.

What would be truly ironic is if a Cunard ship get a Dutch captain and the master of Holland America's VEENDAM remains British! Go figure!

Hi Folks

I think that the QM2 bookings open to the public tomorrow. According to my information, there are no cabins left in category C and D.

I have been thinking........ Australians will be one of the first to be able to book as we are ahead of the US and England time wise!!!!

I hope you are, and us next, leaving the US behind Want to bet the booking system will be 'down', until you are in bed, and our TAs are going home for the night? Only kidding, before I get squashed flat.

Don't know where you ordered the brochure from Steve, the UK site still won't accept a request. Wonder if there will be any in the shops tomorrow am.
