It's not too often that you find a great Maritime web site! Well I just have!

It's by Henrik Ljungstrom & Daniel Othors (Sweden). Take a look for yourself:

The guys were not entirely happy with Cunards's design of the Queen Mary 2, so they made a slight change :

Malcolm

What a great site it is, one which many hours could be spent looking at all the great liners of the past such as the City of New York, I have mentioned this ship before and considering it was built well over 100 years ago, and the tools and technology that was available to the builders at that time do you not agree that what they built then was far superior to what is being built now, or am I being too nostalgic

Anyway thanks for the link.

Cheers
M.

Yep, it is a great site!

Daniel and Henrik have sent me some fabulous pictures where they have made changes to ships' exterior look (like the one which Malcolm posted).

I am not sure where to post this message but, since Malcomb has been on the Norway - for it's "FINAL VOYAGE"; I thought I would say my piece here.

My apologies to those who wrote to me regarding my 3+ weeks on the Norway. I have not, until now, decided to even acknowledge that I was there.

Although I was happy being with my fiance (you know, soon to be hubby); there was nothing else to be happy about on the Norway.

I feel bad saying anything was 'wrong' with the ship but, it was just NOT what it use to be. I don't know why they went to drydock in the first place. Nothing changed except some carpeting here and there; different color paint in some lounges and, (this was the BEST THING), they took off the 'gloss coating' on the international deck. It was much easier walking in 'heels'.

The food was less than one would expect from an ocean liner; however, it was an order of magnitude better than the Carnival's Captain's Gala reception (you know, chicken mcCarnival nuggets served on a platter).

The only 'sight' of lobster was 2 or 3 tiny pieces on a salad. The 'steak' was NEVER what someone would purchase on purpose.

However, other than the food being changed to the extreme; the worst part was the NEW personnel. There was not one person at the 'front desk' who could or even WOULD answer a question. And, if they did, the answer was wrong.

Don't get me wrong, the people who have worked on that ship for a long time were still marvelous. They didn't have smiles on their faces but, at least they could answer a simple question correctly. Their faces told the entire story of the NEW MANAGEMENT of the company.

They apparently have NO personal life. (And I'm not talking about my personal experience.) They are expected to work almost 'round the clock'. This, added to the fact that 8 out of 10 didn't speak a complete sentence in English; made for a cruise from - how do I put it - the deep end!

I am not sorry that I spent a long period of time on the ship because I was able to spend the time with the man I love; but, if I was to evaluate the ship against the worst one I have ever been on; the worst one would win!

I feel like an ungreatful jerk but, this is really how I feel about the Norway now. Believe me, if my significant other stays on that ship, I will definitely go there again. But, 'God willing', he'll be off of it soon.

This was my 14th cruise on the Norway and whatever I thought was bad before has been outdone by an order of magnitued of 10!

Something curious has been happening though. There are no cabins available now (except for a few suites) until mid-April.

Has she REALLY BEEN SOLD? Or, once again, is that just a RUMOR?

I'm sorry if I have offended any sincere Norway fans but, being one myself, I could not wait any longer to 'speak my peace'.

Yours sincerely,
Pollysmom
