I believe that the Italians produced some of the sleekest looking classic liners and I would love to see some of your photos of ships like Leonardo da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Raffaelo, Eugenio C etc. etc.

I am still trying to locate my box of deckplans and photos to scan - but to no avail...

Let's share some of these other liners who often get overshadowed by the legends...

I agree with you 100%! I always felt the Italian built liners of the 50's and 60's were the most attractive ever built. The classic lines, balanced funnels, and tiered aft decks were something to behold. The LEONARDO was my very first cruise in the 70's, and although I was young, I will never forget her. I wish I had taken more pictures.

Ernie Roller - some 45 cruise later, and a bit older as well

Jekyll, most of those postwar Italian liners were legends in my book. As Ernie says, how many ships have ever had lines as attractive as LEONARDO DA VINCI or he consorts?

Based on the exterior design, my two all-time favorites are the Conte di Savioa and the Leonardo da Vinci. How I would have loved to have sailed on them! Too bad that the only thing left of these beauties are pictures amd memories.

My husband sailed on the DAVINCI twice. Loved the cruises on her. Thought she was very sleek and the interiors to be very exclusive. His relatives had sailed on the SATURNIA. And went back on the REX. What a way to travel. Wish we had them here now and transatlantic trips like that now. And We take trips around Europe like that too. Those liners were CLASSY LASSIES. Thank you for sharing the photos. I have a few of what is posted on this topic.
