Does anyone have a good idea as to how soon the
NORWAY is to leave Bremerhaven? I saw the date being Nov. 24th or 25th. Is this target date
still set to go?

Today i read in the Special German Cruisegoer Magazine "An Bord", that the Norway will return to Miami before Christmas this Year an than continue her former Program
in The Eastern Caribbean for NCL.
This an alternative to the Mass-Market-Megaliners of newest fabrication in the US Market.
It is an Classic Ship.

As of the 25th she was still in the yard but I would expect her to depart by the end of the day today with an expected arrival in Miami on the 10th for USCG inspection.

We know how she always passes them with flying colors! <g>

They were fixed when she was impounded for a week, earlier in the year. She was not allowed to sail until she fully met the SOLAS regulations.

Hello all,
I would also be interested in 'finding the Norway'! My sweetie is on board and he has never missed a day calling me. The last call I received was last Sunday, 25 Nov. (his birthday).....but, nothing since.
As of that date, he was certain (or was told) that they would not be leaving Bremerhaven until the 28th.
Now, no phone calls since the 25th.
Maybe they left in the middle of the night??
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm not worried so much as curious because I know that the first of the one-day cruises start on Dec. 11.
Anyone know anything???
Thanks.

Hello Pollysmom, I called
NCL today. Said the liner
is on it's way. And is still due to dock in Miami
on Dec. 11. I hope this helps ease your concerns.
If Joe at Travelpage could
also help Pollysmom, that
would be great.
Let us know if you do hear
from him.

Thank you for the response Dambrosi. I appreciate you trying to help.
However, the plot thickens!
As of yesterday and today, NCL still says that the Norway is 'in dry dock'; funny how we all know that she is not but they do not?!
Also, after reading about that French deal to buy the old girl; might that be going on now?
I really don't understand why all of the ship telephones are turned off; but, the fax line is not.
It only takes 10 days to get from Bremerhaven to Miami. Having left Bremerhaven on Nov. 27 (dry dock confirmed this), that would get her to Miami tomorrow, Dec. 7.
She does not start any 'crusing' until the 11th so that would mean that she would be tied up for 4 days.
After her Coast Guard inspections last June when she was kept in Miami; we learned that it cost $8,000 per day to park at the pier.
I don't think NCL is going to pay $32,000 to have the ship sit there.
So, WHERE IS SHE? WHY DO THEY STILL SAY SHE IS IN DRY DOCK (we all know different)? WHY ARE THE PHONES TURNED OFF?
AND MOST IMPORTANT - Where the heck is she?
Anyone know anything??

Sorry, I've no idea if the SS Norway's refit/departure is running to Schedule? However, I did read this interesting report, issued before the refit:

"In an interesting quirk of maritime history, the QE2 is scheduled to arrive at the shipyard on November 21st. The crew of the Queen will get to be the first to enjoy Norway's renovation, as they are slated to be quartered aboard until her departure on November 28th, arriving back in Miami on December 9th".

Malcolm,
I was in Bremerhaven during the Norway's drydock. She had to pull out so the QE2 could go in.
However, although plans had the QE2 folks to stay aboard - they didn't.
I flew out on the 19th (Nov.) and had a talk with one of the QE2's logistics guys.

What I find more interesting is the latest scuttle about that French company buying the Norway.

Can anyone afford that ship at the gas station?

Pollysmom
