Should the above not read "...world's largest Ocean Liner" rather than "cruise ship"?
I must say that it it getting harder to be sceptical about the QM2 project happening!
In my former technical consulting years, I could translate MW to HP in the proverbial "brace of shakes."
But now??
Do you understand that these engines are just for Ship's Hotel Power, or are they the primary electrical source for the azipod propulsion motors as well.
Terminology: I agree that throughout the forum QE2 is described as a "cruise ship"
Bah!! 'Tis an ocean liner. As co-high muckamuck of this forume you should use rights of censorship to correct this calumny.
And a technical term. Ships have engines, but by the time they are parked outboard in azipods and such, the propulsion units are "motors."
Tell me, in UK railroading, are the diesels called "locomotives" and the electrics, called "motors," or "electric locomotives" or even "electric engines?" Just curious.
When the late great US RR giant, the Pennsylvania Railroad, operated steam and diesel locomotives, they called their famed GG-1 electrics "motors." Some customs die hard!
