Nice set pictures of the REGENT SUN, JP.

It's always very sad to see a stylish little liner, both interior and exterior, decay and disappear in such a sad way.

But it's better to remember them when they were new and mighty, so here's a nice picture of the SHALOM during happier days:

I was aboard one of the Regent Sun's last cruises to the Canadian Maritimes in 1995. The ship was scheduled for an upcoming drydock in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and was shockingly worn. The crew seemed to sense the line's impending demise as there wasn't enough money to get all of the work done. Somehow, the line managed to scrape together enough cash to carry out the needed emchanical work but when she left the yard, none of the cosmetic work had been carried out.

To the credit of the staff & crew, they were very good and even managed to keep the passengers happy despite the ship running low and out of certain supplies and food stuffs.

Thanks for posting my picture, Joe. I took it from an excursion catamaran named "FLYER" as we were returning to REGENT SUN. Shortly after we tied up along side, one of the ship's tenders collided with us doing a fair amount of damage. I met up with the owner of FLYER the next spring in Florida. Needless to say, he never collected from Regency.
