I picked up a brochure for next year's World Cruise yesterday and spotted this interesting paragraph.

"Queen Elizabeth 2's Special Value Cabins represent a savings opportunity of up to 50%. These savings apply to a select number of cabins that may be affected by restricted ventilation, vibration, noise and/or other conditions because of their location. ..."

I know that some of the aft cabins on five deck get a bad name, but these are dotted around, some of them as high as one deck! And why would one cabin suffer from vibration or poor ventilation but not the ones on either side or above or below?

Don't know if these savings are limited to the World Cruise or whether they will be in the standard brochure when it comes out as well.

Colin.

I stayed on Deck 5, inside, in the middle, and found the cabin not only spacious (more spacious than the average cabin on most Newbuilts) and comfortable, but discovered that it received the least "movement" when we plowed through storms. Instead of rolling and pitching, it was more of an up-and-down motion, plus the sound and vibration of the stablizers beneath us was very soothing. It was also one of the least expensive on board, and for the price I was well pleased.

On the other hand, passengers who booked in the fancy-schmancy staterooms, suites and penthouses far above experienced the Sufferings of the Damned during the storms. They were tossed about like those clown-punch-floor-balloons and were so stricken with mal de mar that I'm sure they would've appreciated having Kevorkian on board. They pleaded to be at least temporarily located during the storms, but the ship was solidly booked.

Is there stronger vibration on Deck 5? Of course - we had engines, turbines, screw shafts, et. al., right beneath us. Did it bother us? Not in the least. (Of course, I can't speak for those far aft. After the storms, the QE2 opened to well over 30 knots to make up for lost time and even way up in the mall aft over the double-down room, the shaking and vibration was so bad, a shop selling crystal had to close because of the ear splitting sound of glass grinding and ringing against glass. But where our cabin was, in the middle, far down below, we felt nothing extra-ordinary.)

Colin--I've seen quote, but never noticed listing of cabins. Would you mind posting the cabin numbers.
Thanks.
