I have seen the resent postings about Commodore and the demise of funds and cruise line closing. I sailed on Commodore about ten years back, when she owned the M/S Caribe. Excellant service and value. I was surprised that they also gave single sailing guests a good deal. I sailed on her twice and found several repeat guests who has sailed up to 30 or more times. I think the cruise line was once the GREEK LINE, and the ship as per postings had a least three name changes. The Last is The Regal Empress sailing from Miami. I am glad she has new owners and has servived the scrappers. My point is that Commodore as per postings is getting restructured by a group tour company and plans to reopen its sailing in late May of this year. I am happy to see the ships sailing again if possible and not see the scrappers as well. I feel the trust of the Commodore Company is going to be lost due the recent closing. If they keep the same product and name even with new partners bailing them out, how will they ever market themselves and regain the trust once held for almost 30 years. You must remember they still have old ships and much compitition with the new big guys on the block. I still prefer the older and smaller lines myself, although will that cut the mustard as we so speak? If they offer to cheap of rates they will go under once again for good. Is there anyone out there willing to give them a try? May is almost around the corner.

I have a friend in Long Island, NY, who had 1000 pax booked on the Commodore Line. Believe it has been a nightmare for her trying to re-book these paxs on other ships. She is working night and day to do so. Caught her completely off-guard.

There was some talk of Apple Vacations taking over the Crown Dynasty and running this summer's Bermuda itinerary. However, the ship is still "under arrest" in Aruba and not going anywhere in the short term.

There was also preliminary talk of Commodore being able to reorganize and get back into the swing of things by May. This statement was very premature and Commodore execs themselves admitted this would not happen.

Bottom line problem is financing. After watching three budget lines collapse in one year, I'd hate to be the one trying to entice investors.
