"One of the Queen Elizabeth 2’s two largestsuites, at 1,000 sq ft each, has been booked for the world cruise every year for past decade by the same English couple for US$700,000 a time. They often book other apartments for friends and family and may become the first takers for the Queen Mary 2 ’s giant suite?"
It's not you and your better half - it's not me and my other half - Who Is It?
As hemingway said to F.S.K. Fitzgerald "The rich are different they have more money"
I know their name and business but feel constrained not to mention it here. (I'm sure you'll understand - I may want to go back some day.)
They have a large table in the sunken center section of the Queen's Grill and were a source of wonder to us every night: ice sculptures, special menu items, even Capt. Warwick and his wife as guests (officers on the QE2 do not eat in the Queen's Grill unless invited to do so by passengers - the Captain dines in the Caronia Restaurant) when they were onboard as passengers.
As I understood it, they conduct their business from the ship and often fly friends and family members out to join them for a part of each world cruise. A limousine was usually waiting for them at each port.
They seemed to be lovely people, not at all "posh" as you say. The couple's grandchildren were with them on one cruise and they appeared to be, no more or less, than your typical doting grandparents.
