Hi everyone!,

My family reserved a spot on the new ocean LINER QM-2!! My dad, mom, and I are going to sail on the Liner! I went on what possibly was the last trans atlantic crossing on the norway in august of "99"! It was wonderful!

I think the maiden voyage of the QM-2 will
be a fond memory! There will probley be whistles, fireworks, and all sorts of stuff when it will begin to leave port! I am so excited to go on another ocean Liner.
The only problem is that I have to wait 4 years and then I will be 16.

papillon - Welcome aboard!
How refreshing to hear from an excited 12 year old.

The next 4 years will pass more quickly if you research and learn about what you will see on the trip - start a diary now and write in it regularly - it will be a real treasure long after you've sailed the QM2.

I treasure the diary I kept (at my Dad's insistence) on my first trans-Atlantic crossing in 1939.

P.S. I was lucky kid - you are too!

Welcome aboard Papillon.

Nice to see someone young like you to participe to this forum...and nice to see a 12 year old guy (and his parents) very enthusiast and interested in transatlantic ships! Very reassuring.

Yes, you're very lucky to have the opportunity to soon sail onboard what it appears to be a future remarkable ship.

Bye, good sailing...and good fly! (for the papillon) :-)

Hi green and Varraro!!!

Green that was a great idea to make a dairy!!
My dad is on this site and you might know him by kbozman! So you might see us goofing around a little but don't mind that! My dad
said that he would even by me the dairy. i always take the oppertunity to take when my parents ask me to by me something! At my school people are so jealous of me because my dad takes care of me! A lot of adults think it's funny that a 12 year old likes ocean LINERS! But i don't think it's funny at all i think it is nice!!

Oh and Vaccaro I am a girl, but thanks for saying what you said !

and please keep the posts coming!

I want to go on the Queen Mary 2's maiden voyage so badly that I would settle on staying in a cargo hold but I guess I will just have to stay on the dock and win a ticket in a lucky game of poker like in that movie Titanic.

There are more kids into Ocean liner and some Cruise ships then people think because of the movie Titanic and the TV movie Britannic.

My apologizes for the simplification I made above Papillon!
But no problem, I'm not misogynous at all (it's the contrary!) ...and the liners are not either!
Women were part of and so wrote the history and the legend of liners too! How knows?...maybe as a passenger of the maiden voyage, you'll be a significant part of the legend of the next QM2? Look at this: you already did what it appears to be the last commercial crossing of the FRANCE [ :-( ] and you may be able soon to do the first commercial one of the immediatly next superliner built by the same shipyard about forty years later! What an edifying shorcut in History! Sure, it must be a pleasant sensation!
Good sailing! (for Kbozman too).
Bye.

hi draiker!

It's not so much because of the two movies that made me love ocean liners! It was my parents. they always teach me things! we were shechuled on on of the European cruises of the NORWAY(France)
but unfortunatly NCL cancled the cruise! We were also booked on one of thier caribbean cruises! But that didn't work out either. but we thought that sooner or later we will get on the Norway!

Our family has 3 original books of the titanic!(least I think we have 3)

well all you people keep on posting!!!

Hello papillon

I first cruised on QE2 (QM2's elder sister) when I was 11, so I can fully understand how you feel about your cruise on the QM2, it is the most memorable experience to board one of the Cunard Queens.

I am now 16, and am pleased to tell you that the interest I have in QE2 has not died, so I can only imagine how much more excited you will be in the 4 years you have a head of you, because you will be able to watch QM2 getting built, growing into the amazing liner she is destined to be - and then go on her - you are very lucky.

I hope to go on QM2 one day, and I also plan to go on QE2 again - there is nothing like teenage cruising - it completely rocks

Hi papillon -

I'm female too. Classmates in my school didn't believe I was going from Scotland to Canada - they really thought I was making it up. It was only when I was leaving before the term ended that they realized it was true.

It's right that your Dad should buy that diary - are you listening Dad? Not just one though - make it an annual event - I received 27.....now I buy my own.

Green - I see we have one more thing in common. I too have kept diaries, and
encourage everyone that travels to pick up the habit - such fun to read back over past experiences.

Green,

This is another thing we have in common too, I have kept diaries for over 20 years on all holidays, and its amazing when you look back at the things you forget. Its also nice to note cabin stewards/waiters/cruise directors names etc, because you can always remember the faces, but sometimes forget the names. Its just amazing what we can find out on this board about each other.

I am hoping too that we will soon begin to hear more about the QM and see her take shape and form, it will be a chance in a lifetime to sail on such a ship, and an opportunity for the people who missed out on all the fine liners of years gone by.

Cheers
M.

Hello Green:

I know this is a wee bit off the original subject (QM boarding):- but, that must be quite a diary to have from a 1939 crossing, what an experience, maybe you could share some titbits out of it with us like

was it rough weather? which ship? how did the ship handle?
What was there for children to do? If anything?
What was your last memories of Scotland?
What were the cabin facilities like?
What was the entertainment like?

Its just so fascinating to hear details of a journey like this, and I am sure many others would agree with me and be interested as well.

Cheers - M.

Hey people!

All the people that are going on the QM-2 should have a little get together!
I think it would be fun to meet all the people you are talking with!
