When built for Home Lines in the early 70's Oceanic was a beautiful ship - one of the first desinged keep up for cruising. Look at her now - with a grass hut on the stern and all.
This just points out what damage a "branding consultant" can do. Its all the rage in the business world these days - just behind anything dot com.
Branding can provide an advantage - but what the brand stands for is also important. Carnival has done a great job of establishing a middle market brand in cruisng. The big red boat idea is absolutely tawdry by comparison. Its an attempt to shortcut the hard work that really building a brand takes.

Even if some of us don't like the way they take care of the clissics they have, we must appreciate the fact that these old ladies are still sailing. But i still don't like "big red boat 7 of 9."
I think I saw that Princess is going to name the two sisters ships of Grand Princess as Grand Princess 2 and 3.
This is their attempt to "sub-brand" the idea of "Grand Class Cruising".
It would be a mistake if they didn't give them their own "identity". Can you think of any names for them?

Let me see that leaves one more name to find how about Regal Princess, or Imperial Princess?
