Hello Dambrosi,

Wich one? If you speak about SS VERACRUZ (according me a beautiful ship) built for Cia Colonial (Lisbon) in 1952 at Hoboken in Belgium 21,765 GRT, 610 X 75.8ft,
she has been broken up at Kaohsiung on April 19 1973.
Or maybe you speak about SS VERACRUZ PRIMERO (although "VERACRUZ I" was written on the hull)built at Hambourg in 1957 as THEODOR HERZL (for the Zim Israel Navigation Co Ltd),
9,914 GRT, 488 X 60.36ft. She became CARNIVALE in 1969 (for New Horizons Shipping Ltd) and FREEPORT in 1975 after she has been refitted for cruising and VERACRUZ I in 1976 on US cruising market. She was registered under the Panama flag for Bahama Cruise Line Inc.in 1984. After that, I don't know.

oops, sorry, i did'nt clear that up
very well. it was the VERACRUZ 1.
the last time i saw it, it was sitting in tampa about 9 years ago.
it seems almost every ship ends up
there, when a cruise line goes under
like REGENCY or the BRITANIS, which
as far as i know is still sitting
there. the REGENT SEA, was still there about this time last year when
we took our cruise on the TROPICALE,
last year. that cruise was wonderful.

The VERACRUZ I from 1957 you´ve mentioned above, was later sold to Fiesta Transportantion Inc., Panama and was scheduled to sail for Festival Cruises as the MV THE FIESTA. But the ship sank in 1991 near the dock of the yard in Greece and couldn´t be used anymore.

I was just re-reading Liners to the Sun, and I seem to remember that the Herzl is, or was, the Dolphin IV sailing for Canaveral Cruises. Is this the same ship?

Hey Dambrosi, I'm glad you liked the Tropicale also! We had a great time on her too, and I also rembering seeing the Regant Sea there as we sailed by her.

The Dolphin IV started life as the ZION sailing for Zim Lines.
