For many years the cruise lines have all stipulated that heat-producing devices such as irons are prohibited, but this has usually been ignored (myself included.) Obviously RCI is strictly enforcing this policy (I saw at least 40-50 irons, many of which were the large type which you would use at home).
I don't know how the other lines are enforcing this issue, but a word to the wise, at least if you are traveling on RCI: leave the iron at home, and save yourself the headache of having to stand in line to claim it, after not being able to use it on board!

My technique is to hang everything up in the bathroom, run the shower on full heat, and the steam takes out the wrinkles.
Dormant cruisetalker Green gave me the good idea of rolling everything up into a cylinder rather than fold. It takes less room in the suitcase and does not wrinkle as much.
P&O (and Princess, I believe) have launderettes on most decks, with washing machines, dryers and - yes - irons and ironing boards. But I don't think even they officially allow irons in the cabins.

I was in a suite on the s.s. NORWAY once (just once!) and there was a solid dark-brown burn in the carpet in the shape of an iron right in the middle of the room.
