Actually SPIRIT OF LONDON was to have been NCL's SEAWARD, with their split funnel design. She of course was given a solid funnel once taken over by P.& O.

Attractive offer?

The days of casino ships in Asia are coming to an end because off the large land-based casinos that have been built and are opening.
My understanding is that the ex Spirit of London is also likely heading for the beach simply because she is such bad condition she is unlikely to be sold for further use. She is after all almost 40 and unlike Emerald etc above was built cheaply, frankly I am surprised she lasted this long. Even as Sun Princess she was never the equal of the other ships in the fleet (they even marketed her as the "fun" ship, even Princess got rid of her before even older ships that they bought with Sitmar. As you might guess I was never a fan.

Hi Neil
I took some pics of FLAMENCO I late in the evening a few weeks ago on 21 April about an hours sailing from Port Klang. She looks very tired indeed but is still a very attractive ship.
I've uploaded a couple at:http://www.flickr.com/photos/50194818@N05/4611478538/
Cheers

Thanks for the pics Tony. She is not looking good!
I've sailed on both these sisters as NCL's SOUTHWARD and Princess' SUN PRINCESS. I've always thought they were extremely attractive on the exterior, but the interior is another story.
Very cramped cabins (where the bed literally takes up the entire cabin) and closets with curtains instead of doors. I think one of these sisters may have been the ship where the faucets in the bathroom were airline style ... meaning they were on a spring and you had to hold them to keep the water flowing.
There are few public areas and I felt an aft pool was needed. There is no promenade deck and although the dining room has windows, you look directly out to the lifeboats. Lastly, the aft arrangement of the public areas deck was odd. You walked down a ramp to an oddly shaped casino as I recall. There may have been a shop or two down there as well. I don't think there were any windows.
All in all, these ships personify the cheap build of the 70's and were barely above a ferry (the design is based off ferries of the time). None the less they were popular and made lots of money for their owners. Frankly I'm surprised they have lasted as long as they have. I recall sailing on SOUTHWARD some 15 years ago, and even then she made all kinds of strange noises when put in reverse on maneuvering. A clanking sound if I remember correctly, like the engine was falling apart!
