Due to the hight level of reservation for Norwegian Epic (50 000 in only one month) do you think that NCL can finally order a second Epic ?

What is your source, Christope?

50,000 bookings sounds impressive but its only around 12 cruises. I wonder if NCL and RCI will find that the bookings are strong on their new 'exciting' ships, but bookings go down on their existing fleet? NCL or RCI fans may simply try the new ships out, instead of the older ships. This would not represent new business.

I think NCL will monitor how well she sells for a year, or so, before they commit any more money. After all they have inadvertently already paid well over the odds for just the one.

I don't doubt the design of the ship will be good, but I am not convinced how well NCL will manage the on board services. I have more faith in RCI's ability to manage 'Oasis'.

Agreed Malcolm, I was reading a piece on how well the Oasis is selling and that they are getting a premium over their other ships, the same as NCL with the Epic.

It had me wondering if they shouldn't slow down with the sister ships just so they can carry on charging a premium and so they don't empty out the older tonnage leading to lower rates on those ships.

While NCL will almost certainly build new and probably bigger ships in the future I doubt it would be a second Epic, we should remember in her current form she is a compromise design radically alterred from what was intended, if they had to do it all again and design a ship like Epic I suspect it would have looked very different.

I highly doubt NCL will order another ship. The cost is too much. They just ordered a multi billion dollar ship they are not going to order another too big of an investment. Maybe in about 3-6 years a newbuild from NCL is coming considering their finances.

Isn't one white elephant enough for NCL? Seeing they are not doing well in the cruise market, how can you justify a new build anyway??
How can you cram 50,000 people in a month on a ship? This must be fleet wide or did I misundersatnd what I read?

Maybe this isn't as far fetched as thought. Some quotes from NCL via Travel Trades Gazette
-----------------------
Andy Stuart, NCL vice-president, said: “There is nothing stopping us adding more Epics, or another class of ship. It has given the firm more flexibility in terms of future growth.”

NCL chief executive Kevin Sheehan said talks were under way with the shipyard regarding further capacity increases.
