BAHAMAS CELEBRATION is being marketed by Celebration Cruise Line and not Imperial Majesty Cruise Line.

I must have missed something along the way! I thought BC was simply a replacement for REGAL EMPRESS?

Can anyone please enlighten me as to whether they are one and the same company and if so, why is the Imperial Majesty brand name not being retained?

Thanks

Tony

I think both companies are being run by the same people. It seems like they want to start with a clean slate with a new ship. Although the Celebration Cruise Line website is not 100% percent, I gather they are now trying to sell a cheap, young family product. Obviously with the Imperial Majesty website, they put a lot of emphasis on REGAL EMPRESS.

p.s. Another reason for the name change is BAHAMAS CELEBRATION is nothing close to being majestic as Imperial Majesty implies.

Being purchased by Celebration Cruise Holdings I think the new name just follows on. For those wishing to take this type of short break, with no interest in the ships themselves, a break away from 'Imperial', 'Majesty' & 'Regal' may be a good thing, as now the name leans towards fun, sun and all that goes with it, rather, than perhaps old and stuffy. The two ships are a world apart and I think some of the comments in the original thread sum this aspect up well.

There are a couple of pics of the new Bahamas Celebration here arriving in Port Everglades. As sad as it is to see the Regal Empress finally retired, I do think this makes incredible sense for Imperial Majesty / Celebration Cruises. The new ship will be so much closer to what the average passenger is expecting a "cruise" to be. I wish them well and wish a fond farewell to the R.E. Dissapointingly I am going to be in Florida this weekend and early next week, and tried to schedule a sailing on the R.E. for Monday, but it was obviously not to be.

Nice pics and interesting design of the (looks like bowling bumpers for kids) around the hull. I assume they help control the ships roll. Maybe somebody here more educated can explain them, if they really work, and why more ships don't have it.

The sponsons are most definately there, in fact they are the biggest ones I have ever seen !

This ship has stability problems ? Obviously not now with those huge things stuck on the side of her. Not pretty at all but I suspect is now serious competition to NCL (and others) out of Miami etc ?

The modifications to Prinsesse Ragnhild regarding the sponsons was back in 2002/3 & carried out under the Stockholm Agreement and Solas 90 Conversion requirements, brought into effect after a series of ro-ro incidents in the Baltic. She also had her bulbous bow redesigned, but not sure if that was at the same time or not.

Thanks Steeplechase. It will be interesting to see some onboard photos in time.

Ernst has a rather nice short video clip of her approaching Kiel some years go, amongst the ice, see here.

Thanks for the picture Steeplechase. I find it shocking the lettering on the bow are in different fonts, and "CELEBRATION" is capitalized, but not "Bahamas."

Could be inspired by this I guess, but somehow looks much sillier (as well as not as logical, since on the Celebrity ships it is deliberately the "Celebrity" logotype that is being left alone by being in mixed-case).

It just looks really weird to me that's all. Now that Doug brought up the CELEBRITY SOLSTICE, I guess its not that shocking. (Honestly, I didn't notice SOLSTICE until Doug brought it up )

I am always getting in the way of things!

It is not just CELEBRITY SOLSTICE but all the ships in the fleet, except for MILLENNIUM which inexplicably has not been renamed. (I would love to hear the story behind that one - there has got to be one, I assume.)

The name on BAHAMAS CELEBRATION looks very amateurish, in contrast to that of the Celebrity ships.

Incidentally has anyone noticed the Celebration Cruise Line logo looks remarkably like a cheap rip-off of the Bahamas Tourism logo? This cannot be a coincidence. Compare here and here.

I don't think Carnival is going to let them use this name Celebration Cruise Lines. Years ago Festival Cruises couldn't use their name in the US because Carnival sued, arguing it was too similar to their name. So in the US Festival Cruises was called First European Cruises.

In the Celebration cruises web site under dining options, they mention "Free-Style" dining. I would have thought that NCL would have has that phrase trademarked? It will be interesting to see if NCL picks up on it and if they make a stink about it.

Celebration Cruise Line is completely independent from Imperial Majesty. The Bahamas Celebration is nothing like the Regal Empress as it's a beautiful ship with many more amenities at a great price. They also do 3 night weekend cruises.

I'd take the REGAL EMPRESS over BAHAMAS CELEBRATION, if the REGAL were still around.

I can't say I see the appeal of this at all.

The advertised minimum fares are about the same as what Carnival, NCL and Royal Caribbean charge for their short cruises. Unless you absolutely must have a two-night cruise, not three, it is beyond me why anyone would choose a converted ferry with tiny cabins over a "real" cruise ship (especially NORWEGIAN SKY or MAJESTY OF THE SEAS which are actually very nice ships).

A majority of Celebration's passengers are a "captive audience", sort of, just like they were aboard REGAL EMPRESS and OCEAN BREEZE before her. People are on board as part of a bundled Florida vacation stay and "luxury cruise" package, sponsored by Ramada time shares.

Celebration advertises locally on television for independent cruisers, as well, but I don't think the operation would do very well as a stand-alone product, compared to other products in this market.
