Any news out there on the new French cruise company? It should be a running concern now. Perhaps some of our French friends on Cruise Talk can give us some information.

If you are referring to CDF Croisieres de France established by Royal Caribbean, their website is at http://www.cdfcroisieresdefrance.fr

BLEU DE FRANCE (ex EUROPA, HOLIDAY DREAM etc) began weekly Mediterranean cruises from Marseilles in May and switches to the Caribbean in the winter, based out of La Romana.

Thank you, Tony. Yes, that is the line and the ship I meant. Has anyone heard about the cruises or the ship? I am hoping some of our French members can let us know. What about the French speaking crew? From what country or countries do they come? Cuisine and service?

I heard some pretty good reviews about CDF and the "Bleu de France". The ship is 70% to 80% full for the mediterranean cruises thanks to the "all inclusive" and competitive prices.
The ship is well accepted, despite the lack of balconies (huge spaces in cabins though) and somewhat old and small public spaces in comparision with MSC or Costa. The BIG point is apparently the food with the celebration of the french gastronomy.
Minus points is about the entertaining (apparently rather poor and cheap) and, big surprise, a lot of non french speaking crew members (from East Europa apparently).

I am happy to hear the good numbers for this new adventure. I would expect the cuisine to be excellent, but most unexpectedly that the crew is not all French speaking. I had thought from the start that this would be a problem. Many here thought that crew members could be found in other French speaking countries. The other problem with this is that few from these French speaking countries have experience in hotel service as would be expected A/B a French ship. It takes more time than they had to train for hotel service. I wish them every success and hope that with some time crew members can learn the language. Vive Bleu de France!
