Other than Pullmantur's OCEAN DREAM (ex TROPICALE), are there any other ex-Carnival ships sailing for non-Carnival Group companies?

I guess with these two ships leaving the fleet now, Ivory (ex Ausonia) shall be the next one to follow given that it is the only remaining ship in the fleet that is really old.

By the way, what about SKY WONDER (ex. FAIRSKY, SKY PRINCESS, PACIFIC SKY)?
Louis Cruise ship ' Sapphire ', although modern in design , dates back to about 1967 so unless she is updated for the Solas 2010 regulations she could also be heading for the breakers.

I would say she is chartered directly from HAL. Ownership is still held by HAL Antillen I believe. She is also still registered at Philipsburg, St Maarten (Netherlands Antilles). She was also registered there during her HAL years for quite a while.

MyTravel decided to wind up its cruise operations as part of a bid to remain solvent and sold two of its ships to Louis in April 2004 – CAROUSEL, renamed AQUAMARINE, on a hire purchase deal for $US14 million and SUNBIRD, which became THOMSON DESTINY. Having paid $US71 million for the Destiny, Louis immediately re-sold her to a Norwegian K/S Investment Partnership, Med Cruise, for $US90 million but leased her back for ten years.

quote:Originally posted by Waynaro:So in the press release, Louis is basically saying they bought the ship back from Med Cruises?
The deal done a few years ago was a hire-purchase agreement meaning that Louis would hire her for the first few years and still have the right to purchase her at a pre-agreed price.
This appears to have happened now so both the Thomson Spirit and Destiny have been fully purchased by Louis.
