Louis has confirmed it has withdrawn PRINCESSA MARISSA and SERENADE from service. While this was expected, it has nonetheless come as a big disappointment, particularly as initial schedules indicated SERENADE would continue sailing this summer.

Thankfully, IVORY has been given yet another year of service, sailing alongside SAPPHIRE as the two Limassol-based Cyprus ships.

With immediate effect? bummer, no Serenade Have to resort to Ernst's clips, enough of them, but would have been nice to see for myself.

Bummer is right! I was booked for back-to-back cruises on SERENADE for May. They are switching me to SAPPHIRE, which is all right, I sailed her when she was OCEAN PRINCESS. But I'll really miss the SERENADE, wanted to be on her one more time before the end.

Louis are really turning into the new Epirotiki with all the schedule changes, etc. Great that IVORY will go another year, although their non-user friendly website shows nothing scheduled (at least that I can decipher). No word from Alang about potential arrivals of SERENADE and MARISSA as of yet.

Now, after rumors of taking BLUE MONARCH, and then the possible return of AEGEAN ONE, Golden Star's site shows AEGEAN PEARL, which is the PERLA, doing the 2008 season. No comments from Louis on this, nor any from Golden Star, for that matter. Maybe it would be a good idea for Louis to keep SERENADE on standby just one more season....

Peter Knego in Moorpark, wishing he could sail in SERENADE once more, too.

Hi Peter

It is sometimes a good idea to keep a check on the Suez Canal transit lists.

Although not showing which ports a ship is heading to, it does give you the direction of transit on the canal.

Providing a ship has not had a name change then it is another way of checking what could be an unannounced voyage to the breakers yards.

Neil,

I've been checking the Suez Canal transit lists for some time but haven't seen any "suspicious" ships, yet.

Best,

Raoul

Maybe the AEGEAN PEARL is the former NEW FLAMENCO...

Beacuse the Louis Cruises 2008 itineraries are now published and the PERLA is part of this schedule...

According to Club Cruise, "New Flamenco" will be used in her current function as an accommodations ship in New Caledonia until at least the end of June.

I wouldn't say they are turning to the new "Epirotiki". What I would say that Louis's biggest mistake is "lack of proper PR" and provision of updated fleet-route information to passengers.

They have actually announced at the Stock Exchange that Princessa Marissa, Serenade and Ivory will be the next ships to leave the Louis fleet and the company was actively looking for buyers. In the same press release they said that they are looking to buy newer ships (even built new ships) to expand. What they really failed to do is tell passengers about this or even update their website which still shows P.Marissa and Serenade as being part of their fleet.
