I have seen a different posts within other threads that the SuperStar Gemini is leaving the Star Cruises fleet. Why is this? Isnt she one of their more modern ship (yes i know she is a little older) but wouldnt they rather sell-off the Pisces and the Mega-Stars?

Brian - Above all, I guess she was sold because Star got a good price !

But in all seriousness, I guess she is not a huge money-maker for Star. She is not really suited for the kind of cruises Star is most interested in. I think once GEMINI is gone we'll see Star finally abandoning its efforts to succeed in what it calls 'destination cruises', aimed at Western passengers, which it has frankly never done all that well in.

The MegaStars apparently spend their time on short gambling cruises for high rollers, which I imagine must be quite profitable, and STAR PISCES is also very much a casino ship. (She is also quite a modern ship, though by no means suitable for 'real' cruises.)

I agree that Star will focus more on its core client base rather than to Westerners. SUPERSTAR LIBRA (ex NORWEGIAN SEA) and SUPERSTAR AQUARIUS (ex NORWEGIAN WIND) demonstrate this.

SUPERSTAR ??? (ex PRIDE OF ALOHA) will give Star additional capacity and a more modern ship as a replacement for SUPERSTAR GEMINI.

She has been bought by the Clipper Group and when she leaves Star this autumn, is rumoured to be heading to a number of different operators either on charter or as a resale, among them Vision Cruises, Globalia, Louis Cruises, Phoenix etc etc!

I hope Star will retain some of her lounges instead of turning them all into casinos (i.e. NORWEGIAN WIND-SUPERSTAR AQUARIUS conversion). PRIDE OF ALOHA has some nice lounges such as the forward observation lounge and the Plantation Club.

It will be interesting to see how Star will deal with the Hawaiian theme interiors.

Perhaps they will leave the Hawaiian interiors untouched as they are doing with NORWEGIAN JADE (ex PRIDE OF HAWAII).

Any facilities other than the casino are not being used by its passengers.
Especially when it is a 2D1N cruise-to-no-where.

And Star has converted the SuperStar Aquarius's (ex. NCL Wind)
main swimming pool into a casino.
So in Asia, anything can happen.
