Hi all,

I was just going through the Helsinki cruise ship arrival list when noticed a ship called CELEBRITY CONSTELLATION there. At first I thought it was a mistake but checked on Equasis and indeed it shows that the Constellation was given the prefix Celebrity in May. Has anyone more info about this, will all their ships be given the prefix the same way like Carnival decided or what's going on? Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Aleksi

Have all the Celebrity ships (ie the Century-class) been renamed or is it just the Millenium-class?

The new (2008) Celebrity brochure refers to the ships without the Celebrity prefix: they're just Millenium, Constellation, Mercury, Century, etc.

Sounds awful, it's weird: Celebrity Millenium, Celebrity Galaxy, Celebrity Summit ect. Sounds weird when I say it.

Great pic of her, she is an angular beast, I am sure some folks wonder what all the little coloured efforts are up top, still, one of the best interiors at sea.

Celebrity Millenium, hmm is this the Carnivalization of the brand ? Not too bad I thought this would be the case, I just hope they do all of them not just some as that woudl be strange.

Can some state as a certainty, given this photo, where the hull ends and the superstructure begins?

It looks like an Adidas sneaker box with a bow attached to it. Ugly.

You're right, the 'Celebrity...' does appear to be new. There are pictures on ShipParade from earlier years tha show that the didn't have this in the past.

The new names sound horrid!

Celebrity Millenium? Its not even that easy to say

I hope they change their minds about these new additions to what I thought were interesting names before.

I also don't like it but it is all about marketing. I believe w/all the different look-alike ships out there today the average passenger does not even know what ship they were on once the cruise ends. As long as they can get 'Celebrity', 'Carnival' or whatever to stick in the passenger's mind, the marketing department has done their job.

I am still waiting for the new 'Celebrity Meridian, Britanis, Amerikanis' etc. etc.

Just heard that at least the Infinity has been also given the prefix 'Celebrity' by now so at least all the Millennium class ships will be renamed, and why not then the Century, Galaxy and Mercury.

Horrible but it's understandable with the confusion over similar names. I don't remember seeing Celebrity Millennium on the stern when she left here. Is it there? What have they done with the bow name? Does that have Celebrity as well?

Thanks, Rich. Don't like it even more. Makes me glad to have some of the last photos of Connie as she was from the cruise and when she sailed for refit. Why didn't they do that with Millennium?

Interesting. You would think though, that the company logo would be enough for people to understand what company operates the ship. I think Princess probably have the most recognisable logo... Celebrity's X is slightly anonymous... what do you think?

I note that the computer-generated images of Solstice show the name on the bow as being 'Celebrity Solstice', in the same style as has recently appeared on their current ships. I wonder if it was this that has triggered this renaming?

Nope, not a chance--the general public is just not savvy enough to identify a cruise company even when it's spelled out for them! To many people, the lines are pretty much all the same and it becomes one big blur called "The Cruise Line." I don't know how many times I've been on the deck of a ship watching something obvious like a Carnival vessel coming into port. Even with the iconic winged funnel, people around me are speculating on whether or not it's a Princess or Costa ship! I learned a long time ago to just bite my tongue sometimes during these events!
