I was hoping all you knowledgeable people could answer a couple of questions re the Norwegian Fjord cruise.
1. Is it worth having a balcony cabin for this cruise in May?2. What side of the ship should one book for the best views?3. Would you recommend any of the tours offered on or off the ship?
I would really appreciate any help you could give us with these questions and any tips on what to see or do.
Pam
Yes for the view, but it could be a bit 'cool' in May for sunbathing and drinks on the balcony. However, with Europe’s very unpredictable climate it could be quite warm?
On some ships the price differential between an Ocean View (window) cabin and balcony cabin can be quite large on other ships it is quite small.
2. What side of the ship should one book for the best views?
Often cruising into the Fjords is via picturesque channels, so you get to see scenery on both sides of the ship. The Itinerary is possibly a return-loop anyway, so the stardbaord side may well return past scenary that the port got on the outward part of the voyage.
Norway is certainly a beautiful part of the world. Personally I think the size of the ship can make quite a difference to the experience. Also you have the choice of many 'British' or 'American' style ship, plus the local ferries.
Yes, as Pam has said, more information will help us to help you.

We really like the idea of doing the shore excursions ourselves.(There will be four of us). Any help you can give us on what to see and how to see it would be very much appreciated.
There is not much difference in price between an oceanview and balcony so we thought this might be the place to have a balcony because of the scenery. Thanks Malcolm - we will book port side.
