MSC has stated at Seatrade Florida that they will be announcing further new ship orders within the next few weeks (cruise community) . He further stated they intend to be one of the biggest cruise operaters in the future.

I would then expect more Fantasia class (133,000 grt) orders or even bolder would be a an order for 2 even bigger sisters !

Do you mean Pierfrancesco Vago?

I doubt MSC will go bigger. Their cruise line doesn't have to emulate their container business or Royal Caribbean. I hope they will answer my dream of seeing a ship for world cruising.

By the way, I reckon they are looking at Aker in Finland for these new ships, unless of course they are willing to wait until the NCL ships are completed at Aker France.

******

Cheers

Sorry, didn't read Seatrade Insider's news. So, you meant MSC USA President Rick Sasso. Though, I reckon an announcement such as that should come from Vago not Sasso. Anyways...

Talking of MSC, they are in the news again as one of their container ships Joanna was involved in a collision with the hopper dredger WD Fairway a couple of days ago.

Yeah, they say the Boskalis owned dredger will be out of action for up to a year.

According to ModernAgent.com, they also stated that either MSC Orchestra or MSC Poesia will be running in the Caribbean in '09, alongside MSC Lirica, out of Ft. Lauderdale.

They also said they were going to sail from New York in 2007 with MSC Lirica.
Sasso said he was trying to bring back the days of Home Lines and Sitmar Cruises.
Now the restaurant staff is mostly international and definitely NOT Italian except for a few.
This certainly is not a premium brand.
I suppose in today's marketplace that you have to find least expensive ways of doing business.
Remember, Dino Schibuola is the main man behind the scenes at MSC's Florida office.
He's the "king of cut"....
Stay tuned.
