I can honestly say that after some 50 or so cruises - I have never had a bad cruise - there are certainly some cruises upon which things could have been better...but I haven't had an experience that would ever turn me off.

I think that as one cruises more and more there comes a time when you realize what is and is not important in the cruise ship of choice. As a result the choice of ship is refined to the point where the ship that is the perfect choice is discovered (provided it sails to the desired ports of call

My WORST vacations have been land vacations in Mexico and the DR...the food was terrible/ the scenery static and not being a "Beach Person" I got bored very quickly.

Worst cruise had to be our one and only Carnival cruise onboard a well worn ms Holiday 10 years ago. Three days of Motel 6 afloat w/'Denny's' quality mass produced food. We just returned from one of our 'BEST' land vacations staying at the Four Seasons Punta Mita north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. As per the Robb Report, it really is one of the ten best resorts in the World.

Western Carribean-Mexico.-Enchantment OTS
Ship was delayed(3 hours) getting to Cozemel due to a Mexican ship that was sinking(our ship responded to a SOS). Long dirty ride to Tulum with a very dirty rest stop enroute. Long bouncy ferry trip back to the ship-never got to see Cozemel.
We also heard that there was a Malaria outbrake near Tulum. Fortunately no mosquito bites. My wife fell in one of the shops in Tulum due to unlevel floor. Some bad bruises!
Some tours cancelled in Grand Cayman. Jamaica was very HOT!

Gee..."worst" cruise?

We've been lucky. Even when things were a little rocky, it all worked out eventually. Our cruise on the Westerdam had the highest concentration of problems, from an odd motion, which several of us believe was due to the stretch on the ship, to a delayed disembarkation due to problems with dock equipment.

But no serious problems, really. And that's just one in our 20 cruises.

Brilliance of the Seas, filthy suite including used personal items from previous occupants that never got removed even after asking, no turn downs, one day no cleaning or service of any nature - the steward forgot !, average food and a number of crew especially casino & spa staff who were plain downright rude. Eventually we complained to the purser/hotel director and issues were resolved including a 50% refund, they dealt with the complaint well but some staff not up to the job, the hassle of dealing with it turned a cruise into a issue. That said a bad day at sea is better than a day on shore !

Oh I forgot, Madagascar out of Durban before she was arrested ! No safety on board, all the crew sea sick, so called cruise staff wondering around with no shoes on and pushing in in front of pax for the buffet, sausage rolls for lunch - yes honest sausage rolls. Toilets not working properly instead a notice stuck on the wall read that all our paper etc should be placed in a bucket next to the loo ! Yuk yuk yuk.
Give them their due - 100% refund in repsonse to our letter. She is still lying idle in Durban under arrest.

At least you got back to port. I guess you weren't aboard Oceanos where the safety strategy was "Captain and crew first; let the entertainers get the passengers off safely".
