And it seems the Norwegian Sun will replace the Norwegian Wind in Hawaii with the 10 and 11 day sailings. Here is the news from NCL itself:

NCL Corporation (“NCL”) today announced that it has extended its relationship with the Republic of Kiribati enabling it to continue to offer Fanning Island on its long Hawaii cruises through to 2011 and to commit one of its purpose-built new Freestyle Cruising ships to this increasingly popular itinerary. Norwegian Sun, will replace Norwegian Wind sailing 10- and 11-day itineraries from Honolulu with a stop at Fanning Island beginning in September 2007. This newer, larger ship, launched in 2001, will take over and grow NCL’s 10- and 11-day Hawai`i trade when Norwegian Wind is transferred to the Star Cruises fleet in late April 2007. The addition of Norwegian Sun to Hawai`i, following the addition of Pride of Hawai`i in June, completes the Norwegian Cruise Line brand and NCL America’ brand Hawai`i fleets and will bring the total NCL Hawai`i fleet to over 8,500 lower berths.

This seems to me to be a lot of capacity in Hawaii, but they must be able to sell it.

So the rumour comes true!

SuperStar Aquarius... not a very nice name I think, since it sounds like the reunion of Star Pisces and sister ship ex-Star Aquarius in Hong Kong. They have so many other choices like Sagittarius, why not use them? I always hope to see a ship named SuperStar Sagittarius, a name still quite fresh since the former one only beared the name for several months.

All in all a nice ship, and I can't wait to see the itineraries! I have been wishing to sail her since I saw her 5 years ago as Norwegian Wind.

Good news! Finally Star is putting another ship in Hong Kong! I bet the influence of this long debate/rumor is the fact that COSTA ALLEGRA will be based in Hong Kong and RCI will be putting a ship in Asia.

SUPERSTAR AQUARIUS is not the best name, and I agree with Andy about SUPERSTAR SAGITTARIUS - even SUPERSTAR SCROPIO would be good.

By the way, has anyone seen the former SUN VIKING in Star Cruises livery?

If of interest... a brief report on STAR PISCES 2 nighter to Kaohsiung that had 3 days extra due to a hurricane last week is here.

Yes the ship was further delayed after a slight collision with a tug in Kaohsiung. A 5-night cruise on STAR PISCES, probably the longest ever !
