Yes, the Flaam Railway is very well worth an excursion, if the weather is good.

I'n not surprised at that price!

They will probably upgrade the lower grades nearer the time and resell the cheaper cabins. I hope that you are lucky?

Congratulations on your conformation. We decided to cancel our waitlist option as the uncertainty of “are we going or not” was too much. All is not lost though as we found a great substitute cruise at an unbelievable price. Royal Caribbean ‘Splendour of the Seas’ 15th May 6 nights from Lisbon to Venice for £269.00 + flights best available inside cabin.
Not bad for a consolation prize.

Mind you though do you think two Scousers on the same ship would have been a good idea!

Have a great cruise

Dave

I've cruised on both ship and I think RCI are very good value, but 'Splendour' is not a substitute for the QM2! That a bit like saying you cancelled the Rolls Royce and purchasd a Ford Fiesta.

I'm sure you will have a great time, though.

Very true, could not agree more. However one is certain the other was not. Would rather be on a certain cruise than sat at home just thinking about what could have been.
QM2 was not to be this time, that's my bad luck but she'll be around for a long time yet. I'll just have to wait a while longer.

I do take your point. I had a very good time on 'Splendour' a few years ago for a great fare. Have you cruised RCI before?

Yes it will be our first time on Royal Caribbean, also our first inside cabin!! Still I'm sure that will be OK. We have cruised with Celebrity before and are doing so again in November. Apart from Gibraltar the ports of call are all new to us as well so we're really looking forward to it. The best thing of all though is booking so close to going. We normaly book about a year ahead and have to count down the months, with this one though it's weeks!
Strange how things work out, if it wasn't for the QM2 offer we would never have even found this one as up until then we were not looking to cruise before November. Two in the year has to be a bonus.

Dave

I had an inside cabin on 'Splendour'. They are perfectly adeqate, although it can feel a bit odd when you have spent a day ashore in the blazing Med Sun and return to a cabin without natural light.

RCI are particularly aggressive at income generation tactics. However, this is RCI's key to keeping their fares reasonably priced, yet still being able to generate good profits.

RCI are very good as long as you remember they are 'mass-market', with fares to match. Celebrity are a few rungs of the ladder higher, as are their fares, normally.

Here is my ship review: .HERE

If you like 'Splendour' you would just love RCI's 'Radience Class', they are the next generation of design

Please report back, Enjoy!
