I received my docs for my cruise on Voyageur next weekend and when I saw my cabin assignemtn went right online to see wher it was.

What I had forgotten was thet RCI has Online Check In - so I did and the cruise isn't for another 7 days). WHAT A BREEZE this was. I shall be interested in seeing how smoothly the embarkation really does go.

Anyone else tried it? Any comments?

Yes. You will still end up in a lline for check-in which may take you 20-30 minutes. However, this is not surprising as there is 3500+ people.

However, I assume that it would take even longer without the on-line check-in?

Yes - I would guess that this would be the case if I have a NEED to be onboard right at 2:30pm; however, I would suspect if my day is planned such that I get to the ship arund 4pm or so - it should be pretty quick - we'll see - and I guess report back once i find out...

Considering the volume of people, it will probably be a pretty smooth operstion.

HAL has had the Immigration forms on line for a couple of years, but you still have to go to the check-in desk to get your room key/ID card and turn in your contract voucher.... at least that's what we have to do on HAL.

Also, don't forget you will still have go go through US Immigration, which can be very slow and could take some time, so I would get there before 4pm. What time does the ship leave Vancouver?

Actually the ship leaves from Cape Liberty NJ - so I go through US Immigration at YYZ...I suspect. Embarkation is at 2:30pm and we sail to Bermuda at 6pm.

a) We don't have any Voyager Class ships sailing from YVR
b) Why would anyone go to Bermuda on this ship?????? BAD CHOICE for BERMUDA...and before anyone asks - I didn't chose this ship - I was told to go by Head Office...

My last cruise to Bermuda was HORIZON - it was the PERFECT way to see Bermuda.

Hi All,
Was aboard the Voyager three weeks ago, did all the on-line check in before hand had my set sail pass when we got to the pier. We wereon the ship within ten minutes, had the set sail pass, passport and credit card we registered and it was fast & easy.
Nice idea they have.

WOW - 10 minutes - sounds like a plan - let just see how it pans out in 7 days

I have been lines for up to 3 hours in the past checking onto RCI or Cunard ships - this should prove interesting - I do all my airline check-ins online...and it's great!

Provided there's no-one in the queue when you arrive, you may be OK When we arrived at Port Everglades for HAL in January, the queue for those who had registered online was endless, with a short queue for those who hadn't. We were lucky and joined a queue for 'non-us citizens', actually there was no queue just had to wait for the people in front to finish....BUT, the computers were down. Check-in took a few seconds, they couldn't do anything apart from check your name off on a list & give you a card to board, already prepared.

The queues came once onboard. We had to wait in the lounge until the ship was ready, and then no-one was permitted to go to their cabin, once aboard, until we had queued up to have the photo and credit card details taken in one of the lounges. This was awful!!! and took well over an hour with a couple feinting. Actually worse than queuing in the terminal building.

So however speedy things may be, they can also fail when computers are 'down', making things worse than if everything was manual at the outset

Pam
