Carnival had/has their own airline? The pictures on this site are dated 1997, so I'm assuming that its long gone but the table says 2 737's are still in the 'fleet'. When/Why/How did this emerge? And if it has gone, when/why/how? Actually i think i could understand a how (airline saturation, simply cheaper to bump passengers on commercial flights rather than running a small fleet of their own).
Anyone flown them?
But i haven't a cleu of the stil excist ore not?
Greetings Ben.
They eventually had a fleet of about 22 aircraft, mostly 727s and 737s, and I believe they had an A300, too. I flew on them a couple of times between Miami and San Juan; it was crowded, no frills transportation.
By 1998 the airline was gone, the victim of low profits and poor reputation, especially in the wake of the infamous ValuJet crash in Miami. People were not willing to fly the cheap, no-frills charters for a while after that.

Well if you look at the database table in that link, it shows that they only ever had 13 A300's (all gone) and a total of 24 737's (22 gone and 2 stored).
I just found it interesting as I did a search and pretty much found nothing on it, was wondering why no-one ever said anything about it.
But apparently their 737 (probably pre-NG series, so -400 or -300) had PTV's in them! Not very often that you see that!
I was unaware of this when I doctored a Carnival aircraft for a thread sometime recently, only subsequently coming across it. My doctoring wasn't too bad a guess. The moon on the wrong edge.

Pacific Interstate Airlines acquired by Carnival and renamed Carnival Airlines(a division of Carnival Cruise Lines)They begun international air service to San Juan, Puerto Rico and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on charter flight.
On march 2nd 1990, Fantasy made a maiden voyage and started 3-day Nassau cruise and 4-day to Nassau/Freeport Cruise out of Miami while Mardi Gras had been offering same cruises out of Ft. Lauderdale and relocated to Port Canaveral in 1991 although Carnivale had been based Miami but deployed to Port Canaveral in 1990.

Correct. And Pam's doctored pic is an A-380.

Its kinda obvious why they failed, same as the Trump airline. If they wanted to start up an airline and make it successful, they needed new, efficient aircraft to compete with competitors who have new and efficient aircraft. In this sense, think Richard Branson, not Donald Trump!
