Just wondering, what else can RCCL put on a ship to make it better or at least in the eyes of the cruising mass market. How about a roller coaster, a ferris wheel, and a miniature railway to tour the Royal Promenade. Really, on a more serious note, do any of you think RCCL will add more amenities if Ultra Voyager ever materializes, or just simply make it bigger. If you think they will, which ones can you imagine being put onboard.

Personally I'm imagining a straightforward "stretch" of the VOYAGER-class. Really, what more CAN they add?

Perhaps RADIANCE-class bits might be added, like the Colony Club with self-levelling billiards table... With expanded deck space they might re-introduce the water slide (perhaps not in the kids-only areas this time) and add a Magrodome (oops, "crystal canopy") over the Solarium... And other such "detail" changes... But I don't think there would be anything major.

Well, at least assuming they don't throw in a planetarium to try to keep up with the Joneses ...

I've got a strange feeling RCCL will add some new things. You know, the more I think of it, a miniature railway wouldn't be a bad idea. They are actually quite compact, some examples get smaller than 7in gauge of track. Still kinda crazy but it would be cool to see. I'm sure the little ones would love something like it, as well as anyone who's tired and doesn't want to walk or just wants a nice ride. I must be tired so if don't make any sense please warn me.

I have to say, if they go with a railway I might start sounding like CGT .

I suppose it could be done, but... Well... Frankly it just sounds rather frivolous. Oh, wait, so is an ice rink or a rock wall...

Yep, if they pick the right gauge it could be down, all they would really need to remove are the decorations and models of the ship and there would be a path down the middle. It would be quite a novelty. They would probobly need to make it electric and have a cog so it wouldn't fall off, but it could be done. The good thing about this gauge is that it is often elevated, which can make things easier. Not that it will happen, but it can't hurt to dream. I really don't know what other additions they can add, a studio at sea, maybe?? The following show was filmed before a live studio audience on Ultra Voyager. It wouldn't be a bad idea, but again not likely. I would sail on the ship if it came out with features this good!
P.S.- Here's a link to show how large a 7 and 1/4in gauge railway is http://www.narrow-gauge.co.uk/gallery/show.php?image_id=281&cat_id=57

Thats what I was just thinking! It would make it easier for people with trouble walking to get from one end of the ship to the other...

Do you know what would be really surreal, an onboard boating lake, full of motor boats that you could drive around the lake, at night, while Purple Haze by Jimmy Hendrix was playing! Yea man!

Or how about a complete replica of the Titanic, INSIDE, the ship?

The internal prom would stretch around one side of the titanic and look just like Southampton dock. Once you had boarded the Titanic, your accomodation and dining would be within the ship.

You could even walk on deck and look up at the cloulds, painted on the roof of the ship.

I like the idea of neighborhoods as someone else mentioned on a QM2 (or maybe QE2?) thread.

Surely a ship as long as UV will (might) be RCI will incorporate 3 if not 4 elevator/stair towers. Well, what if each tower was an atrium spanning the height of the ship with a different theme. One could be modeled after a Spanish plaza mayor, another could be made to feel like Times Square (gasp!) or Picadilly Circus, and yet another to look like a Roman city center. I guess there could be a Royal Promenade connecting the three or four "centrums," but not necessarily. They would all have glass-enclosed elevators but they would be heavily disguised to match the style of the area. Each would be capped by a glass dome for natural light and (perhaps?) these glass canopies could be opened. Restaurants, cafés, bars, clubs, shops, etc., would flank these areas and of course fit in with the theme. Each centrum would have staterooms that overlooked the area, many with balconies. Additionally, at the bottom of each centrum would be a guest relations desk. Upper deck areas including pools, spa, and fitness center would not be tied in to the neighborhood themes and neither would the main dining room(s).

Finally, the Viking Crown Lounge will be as it was (and should be) on Sovereign Class ships and completely surround the funnel for 360º views. And, to boot, it will slowly revolve to provide a continuously changing view. Of course there will be an alternative restaurant up there, too.

Oh, and one last thought... the Royal Suite(s) will be above the VCL with huge outdoor terraces and will also revolve. Imagine a NCL Garden Villa but much better.

So... CGT... do you think the CMM would like a ship like this?

(Note: I think that all of my ideas above are feasible save for the revolving VCL... that would certainly be an incredible maritime engineering feat! Additionally, if these ideas were executed well, I feel like they could come off nicely and not be crass at all... well, at least not any more so than the current Voyager Class.)

Great idea! I bet most of you have seen it done on land so why not on water? Maybe they could even add a "observation deck" surrounding the exterior of the VCL.
