I have a question for all of you that have cruised many times over and over again..sea sickness...be prepared, or not??

Don't even think about it - you'll be having too much fun!

If you must, pick up some Ginger Root capsules - Swiss Herbal Remedies - from the drug store.

Just in case, take some Bonamine with you. You can get it at Shoppers - no prescription. One pill a day - lasts for 24 hours. I usually start taking it 2 days before and swear by it. Have never been sick since I started taking it a few years ago.

Green is lucky - she and my husband never got sick, even in rough weather.!

Thanks guys!!! I only got sea sick once...it was in Cancun..I did a norkel trip..was BURNT real bad..and was on a sail boat...of course it goes UP AND DOWN!! I was siiiiiick! Thanks...was hoping i wpuldnt have to worry bout it..cause usually it puts me to bed like a baby

Ginger and Bonamine do not make you sleepy.
Be sensible when out in the sun - don't forget the sun is much stronger in the Caribeean than it is in the summer in Ontario. Wear a hat, lots of sun tan lotion and take it easy in the sun - 15-30 mins the first day. You don't want to spoil your vacation.

I've never tried Bonamine, but my wife swears by Gravol (I think it's called Dramamine in the US). Takes one pill in the morning and never has a problem.

I tend to be like Green and Smpatico's husband and, to date at least, have never had a problem.

It's Gravol in the US also. Bonamine is Bonine in the US - go figure!

The problem with Gravol is that I find it causes drowsiness, but I understand there is a non-drowsy type. When I can't sleep at night I take a Gravol, rather than a sleeping pill as the doctor said Gravol is non-addictive.

Whatever works for you, then that's what you should take. Everyone is different.

Gorgeous weather to-day here in TO. Let's hope this is the end of the cold and SNOW!

I as well take gravol at night when I have troubles sleeping. I hope there is a gravol that is non drowsey. Does the Sunbird really move enough to make you sea sick? If thats the case than I think I may bring a lot of gravol!!!

The only high rolling you'll find on Sunbird is in the casino. ;-)

But if the gentle movement does get to you, my recommendation is to head for the medical centre on Deck 1 and ask the doc for his wonder needle.

It doesn't hurt and it never fails.

No I don't usually get that sensitive. If I do have to get this wonderful needle how much is it? Thats a good idea for them to have!!!

i always have a shot of cognac when i feel queasy and have never been sick. it always helps if you spend most of the cruise half smashed.

HAHAHA, thats awesome, was concerned about getting smashed with the movement of the ship, thought it would make you even MORE sick. Thought about that tho!! For sure, got the unlimited drink card as well!

The best thing is to not even think about you might get seasick. In most cases people just stick into this thought and get already sick when they see the pool-water....
A small hint: A glass of pepper-vodka or regular vodka is excellent in such circumstances. This is one of the remaining traditions onboard russian or ukrainian ships.

They don't even have to see water. I have a friend who was seasick visiting a ship in a museum, set in concrete!! She wouldn't have it that it was all in her mind and swore the thing was rocking!

Go to the top of this page and click on "Cruise Home". Then look under "Budget Cruise Lines" and click on "Airtours". The Airtours page has a link to the web site and the Sunbird profile will tell you where she goes.

This is true for most any other Cruise Line.

I dont usually get seasick. I spent a night on a speed/house boat that wasnt exactly "BIG" Plus on top of that I was cramped in this small room at the back of the boat. You want to talk about claustophobia!!!
We leave from Montego Bay Jamaica.

It completely failed Mrs. M in a QE2 Transatlantic Force 10 gale! And of couse a needle in your butt hurts a little!

However, the next day she went back and they gave her a different wonder drug into her rear. This did the trick.

I really don't know why you are worrying so much about getting seasick. Why don't you just wait and see what happens. Take the Bonamine with you, start taking if a day before you leave, if you are worried so much.

The shot of Dramamine is only the last resort and if you are that bad the doctor or nurse will come and give it to you. Just remember if it works you will be out for the rest of the day. As to cost, it will be covered by either your insurance, which I hope you have or by OHIP.

Quit worrying - go and enjoy yourself.

yeah i am not all that concerned for myself. It would be my boyfriend. I guess I made it sound like i was realllllly worried. The thought crossed my mind so i figured I would post it and see what everyone thought on the matter.
