Carnival has a new ticketing system and as a result, you will be getting your cruise tickets late. Late means probably not till you show up at the ship. You will not get any sympathy from their agents either!! They frankly don't care!!!

Frankly that's a blessing - I've always preferred pier pick up - one less thing to have to carry and now that most forms can be downloaded or filled out online - what's the big deal.

One less thing to lose/ forget.

One day I hope to see check in similar to Air Canada's express checkin...insert your ID...tell them how many bags you have...print off the luggage tags...choose your seat and off you go!

The whole issuing of tickets is somewhat archaic.

Maybe the money saved on postage and printing of documents could be used to improve the onboard product that so many people seem to be complaining of...maybe even reduce some of the admin costs that result becuase of name changes, reissuing of docs etc.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

This alarms me due to the fact we will be leaving early for our cruise, early meaning 4 days. What if the tickets arrive 3 days before the cruise departs and we arrive at the dock with no tickets.
I believe I will be calling Carnival as soon as I finish this reply, Like now!

Does this mean for all Lines in the Carnival 'Family' i.e. HAL, Cunard etc.etc. or just Carnival ships?

Where did this info. originate?

I called Carnival and ask if they were having trouble getting the tickets out on time. They informed me they have a new system in place and there are problems that have to be worked out therefore tickets are not getting sent out as soon as usually. Carnival told me to have my travel agent call in and request for my tickets to be sent early.

Unfortunately, Carnival and most if not all brands under the Carnival umbrella do not offer online forms. Maybe this will be something for the future, but it's paper only for now.

RCI, Celebrity, and Princess are the only major lines I know of that offer online forms that are linked directly to their computer system. NCL has online forms, but it's basic in that it is only sent to reservations to be manually input to their reservations system, with no confirmation that it was actually received.

Best,
Ernie

Who needs a ticket anyway? I like the ETicket concept that the airlines are pushing. Why don't the cruise lines do that? Can anyone offer a reason why they shouldn't?
