I am cruising on the Norwegian Wind to Hawaii and I am aware that the cruise lines respect the no gambling rules of Hawaii but does anyone know if the tables will be open on the way to Fanning Island since this is well away from Hawaiian waters?

Er, what "no gambling" rules near Hawaii??
Doesn't the international waters rule apply?

We are also going on the Norwegian Wind to Hawaii. According to our travel agent there is no gambling on the ship for the entire cruise. We usually enjoy giving a donation to the casino, but we look at it as a positive, it will save us money.

This was a law enacted about by the Hawaiin government about 1 year ago - all cruise ships must close their casinos before reaching the islands and cannot re-open until they leave the islands. Sorry I don't know what the distance is that they consider to be Hawaiin waters.

I just looked this up on another board. No there will be no casino open on the Wind, even with Fanning Island. The casino is shut down the entire cruise.

I sort of like the cruises like HAL has which are Roundtrip from San Diego. About 5 days over and while on the islands, you can hock some jewelery and be prepared for your cruise back to San Diego. Continued Good Luck!
