Congratulations on your new 'best friend' - what 'make' is it?

You might even want to post a couple of pics.

Other pet owners could also post - always think you can tell much about a person when you see their 'best friend'.

What about it, Joe?

W-e-l-l !!!! none of those appeal - I'm a dog lover!

I'd never be unkind to a cat (I've 'baby sat' many) but my preference is for dogs!

Why not "4 Legged Friends"?

I find it hard to say that I like dogs. I like some dogs, but not all of them.

When I was a little kid I knew two dogs, really. One lived next door to me and it bit my mother. Another once jumped on top of me which I didn't like very much. So I sort of grew up with a bit of a dog problem.

For years I was entirely terrified of dogs - probably more than anything else. Now only big ones that aren't on leashes scare me. Small dogs I'm fine with and if there's a leash I have no problem. But put me in a field with a big dog running loose and watch me run for cover.

The first cat I really ever knew was my own. She's about as sweet as you could get and actually my mother got her so I wouldn't be entirely alienated from all pets. Now I'm a sort of cat fanatic .

Each to his/her own.

Happy Cruising,
Cruiseny

I'll post a photo of her as
soon as I get my Web TV Plus unit. It's still on backorder. I can use a camcorder and take a photo of my little cat. I have the
camcorder now. It's just the
wait for the Plus.
But, I do understand she is
a cutie pie.
If you go into
http://www.siameserescue.org/gallery.html
Then go into VA Center. Then type in the name of the cat
you'll see her.
Her name is Sondie, so just type in her name and scroll down past one or two cats and you'll see her. At the bottom of her description you'll see where it says, Congrats Deb in FL
It's a nice photo of her.
Thank you so much for caring.
BTW, I love small dogs, such as the Cairn Terrier, Taco Bell dog. Only the little guys, I don't have one. But they are sweet.

Hello,

Awwww... She's such a cute little girl .

If I were starting over I'd get two (vet says mine would be devastated and I believe him). Have you thought of that?

Happy Cruising,
Cruiseny

Thank you fellow pax. She's a real doll and so petite.
We have 2 already, the oldest is a Snowshoe SealPoint, her name is Bianca. She's still missing
our last Suzie that looks like Sondie. Our next gal is
a Lynx Point, just over a year old, her name is Regina. I wish I had my webtv plus, I'd post their photos. Bianca has been crying for Suzie just about every night, since we lost her to Asthma on June 21, the blasted vet, all they wanted to do was sell us nutrients and so forth. WE told them we thought it was
Asthma and they wanted to treat her for Bronchitis. On top of that, the vet is allergic to cats. Of all things!!!!! We switched vets. I'm not going to allow them to cause the death of another one of my babies!!!

Dambrosi,

I don't blame you for wanting to change vets! One of my boys (I got them both as kittens in SC) weighed 2 pounds for about 6 months and had chronic diarrhea. Our vet didn't have a clue what was wrong with him! When he was about 8 months old, she changed his food to a hypo-allergenic one, and the diarrhea cleared up and he started gaining weight. He was allergic to one of the ingredients in his food! When we moved back home to NY, we started going to a vet that specializes in cats. We will never take our "kids" to anyone but a cat specialist ever again!

Boy, we can have our troubles with vets can't we?
Instead of looking at ALL the angles, they want to take shortcuts.
That's why surgeons do blood
transfusions. It's a quick
fix and money for the hospitals too. They use it as a shortcut to do lousy surgery. No blood for me!!!
There are other alternatives.
If the vet does'nt do a good
job, you just drop them like
a bad date and find one that
will do the better job.

About 3 months ago a semi-feral cat decided to make our barn here maternity ward and had 4 little cuties. Thery're all brown and black tabbies and each personality is entirely different. We took 2 of the little girls into the house last week and they're adjusting very well in becoming inside kitties. It's so much fun to watch kittens play. There's still a female and male left. If no one claims them they'll be welcomed to stay, after a little surgery of course. One still has to be a responsible pet owner, especially if they are outside animals. It will be nice having a couple of barn cats. It will keep the rodent population down. Mice, birds, rabbits, nothing is safe from mama kitty. She's some hunter. Hopefully the kitties will learn well.
