What is the best way to pack? A friend of mine said that rolling your clothes up would keep them from getting wrinkled. What has worked best for all of you seasoned travelers? I know I can use an iron on the ship and turn on the hot water in the shower, but I will be in a hotel the night before. Got less than 8 weeks to go(I know it's a little soon to count down), but it seems like a million things to do before the big day. I hope all this anticipation doesn't kill me. Anyway, first timers. Gotta love us.

Rolling is good for many things but my advice is ziplog bags for tops and blouses - squeeze all the air out and seal - between now and packing night SAVE, BEG, BORROW or STEAL dry cleaning plastic covers - lay garmet flat, plastic cover then fold - works every time.

What ship are you sailing? Itinerary?

Happy cruisin'

Green is so right! Those plastic drycleaning bags are worth their weight in plutonium, (okay, maybe not). It's amazing how well they keep clothes from getting all wrinkled in your suitcase!

Thirded...in the UK, and I assume you can too in the US, you can buy slighter thicker plastic versions with a zip up the front and they're sealed across the bottom rather than open. 'Dust covers' in effect. They come from the cheap everything £1/$1 shop type places, and you get 2 or 3 in a pack. Well worth the price for saving on the creases.

The best way to pack is to, Have your wife do it, then keep your mouth shut about having too much luggage.

Just returned from a short ten day trip up to Northern Illinois. This was actually a "practice packing" run before our 22 day cruise in July and August. I "rolled" my clothing for the first time-it worked like a charm! A quick snap after unrolling and both the shirts and slacks looked good.I have long used the 2 gal. zip-lok bags but I find that you can't always get all the air out and therefore they tend to take up more space in the suitcase. Same problem with dry cleaner bags (although I must admit that the biggest problem could be with the packer taking too much "stuff" but then I would have to accept personal responsibility and that is something I try very hard to avoid!)I still like the zip-lok bags for "like" items such as underwear, handkerchiefs, socks etc. as it gives me one thing to handle without disrupting the entire suitcase (if I can't completely unpack).
