I used to frequent the Cruise Critic boards when they were on AOL... then moved to the web based boards, which I detested initially. In any event, although I enjoy the crowd over there, it's refreshing to have found a crowd that... knows what they're talking about? I enjoy helping first timers and regular cruisers out, but how nice to see some people who also follow the industry here! I'll have to start coming out here! Happy cruising.

Welcome, FunshipPete!

I am a pretty new member here myself and couldn't agree with you more. The members here DO know what they are talking about. You won't find a nicer group of people. I have enjoyed every minute here and know you will too!
I look forward to reading your posts.

Hello,

Pete, I am also a Cruise Critic member who recently, ahem, "defected" here... Cruise Critic is just too vast, and there are too many dumb arguments going on over there for me... Here, you can have an intelligent discussion with no interruption. I agree that this is just a great bunch of people to talk cruising with!

Happy Cruising,
CruiseNY

I've seen some other forums that are rather dumb, and I can think of one that is rather academic and too intimidating for me! We seem to have a nice balance here.

I'm pleased to say that this is primarily a web site for people who enjoy ships and cruising.

Take a look at CRUISE@DDICTS - they talk about everything but cruising. Every post has the same date in each Topic section. They have more GIFS than they do answers. It's a chat forum.

On CC there are two sisters who seem to talk to each other on the forum, instead of phoning or e-mailing each other. One is on the forumn 24/7.
There are some funny posts thought - like "Burial at Sea". Our old friend Mike really got them going.

Welcome Aboard, FunShipPete!

I also find Cruise Critic's site entertaining, but always come here when I want real answers. Although people don't always agree, they show "no disrespect" to those with a different point of view. Besides, Malcolm and a few others here will "keep you in stitches" with their wit and humor . Plus, it's good to see another Jerseyite posting!

Regard...Bob

Let me add my Welcome Aboard also!!! It's nice to think that others think we know what we are talking about LOL. To prove that we DO know what we are talking about you might want to check out our estemed cruise director, Malcolm's past thread about"Best place to have sex on a ship" , oneof our more cerebral discussions.
