Our neighbors just returned from the 10 day Celebrity cruise out of Baltimore and I was very surprised to hear how dissapointed they were. First of all they said it was very hard to find a parking spot. It seems a LOT more people drove there than was anticapated(thought that was the whole idea for using Baltimore). Secondly they were shocked to find no welcome aboard lunch. they said nothing was served until dinner and they were starving all afternoon. Is this just a glitch or is Celebrity supidly cutting back on one of the basic things that makes crusing pleasant, all the food???? Would be interested in other peoples latest account on what is happening at Celebrity. This is one cruise line that we haven't tried yet and was interested in trying them to Bermuda, but if they are cutting back on the basic's, forget them.

Hello,

I haven't cruised Celebrity since 1995 (by way of coincidence) so I can't help you in one respect. But you would probably enjoy Horizon and Zenith (which go to Bermuda) in the sense of the pysical ship itself... I can only tell you what food and service were like seven years ago and they were very good...

As per the welcome aboard luncheon, I don't recall one being served on RCCL (Voyager) in February...

Happy Cruising,
CruiseNY

Went on Summit in Feb of this year, had a wonderful lunch, actually for those of us who boarded early we were sent to the buffet lunch and asked not to go to our cabin until 2PM to give the staff a chance to get all of the cabins perpared. We stopped by our cabin and it was ready so we dropped the carry on bags in the room and went to lunch. I don't think Celebrity has dropped the lunch maybe just a problem on this cruise.
Don't know what to say about the parking, your right that was the whole purpose of going from Baltimore, so people could drive and not have to fly. I'm sure they'll get this fixed.
Been on three Celebrity cruises and have enjoyed the food on every one and I'm a big food person.

Was this be chance your friend's first cruise? I've sailed on 5 different Celebrity ships, with the latest on the Zenith from Baltimore in Oct/Nov,and have always had lunch available in the cafes. The main dining rooms are usually closed. It seems very strange they would have trouble getting food, unless it was during the lifeboat drill. I certainly would agree that the parking situation is horrible, but my understanding is it's being remedied. The same holds true for future ships sailing from Philadelphia. Can you find out details for us? Food is such a big part of cruising, especially with Celebrity, so reading your post has me really curious.

Regards...Bob

Yes they have cruised before. They expected the usual buffet but there were only sanwiches available. They seem to think that they were very unprepared. It's like it was a new cruise line or ship, which of course they're not. They expected the usual buffett, they said there was no hot food until diner just sandwiches.
