They are NOT the humble company they used to be. They are pushy, arrogant and
WE'RE NUMERO UNO THIS!! WE"RE NUMERO UNO THAT!!
They strut like peacocks waiting to be shot at. They
dump things without trying to find out if it's going to
work or not. Such as it would be better if the Niew
Amsterdam would be marketed
here out of PT. Canaveral. Instead arrogant Arison says
"We're selling it." Dickinson would rather the SS UNITED STATES to be sunk and made into a reef. Well, I'd like to see that done to
one of their larger ships someday and both of them to see it happen. Their ships are too big, too impersonal
and they care nothing at all
about the real future of passengers as they get older and all of us are. How many of us on this forum right now, in 10-20 years are going to be able to get around these large overblown
mega ships? Strutting and saying "We're the biggest cruise line in the world." Is one thing, getting to the
matter of what passengers really want in 10-20 years is going to be a Bigger focus. Most of you who love
Carnival and think they're the best thing since toast. I wish you could have sailed
with them when they had real
ships and a very humble beginning. They have left their roots behind and I for
one am very sorry they did.

Mate, the whole dissing Carnival thing, its getting boring...

You claim;

quote:
Their ships are too big, too impersonal and they care nothing at all about the real future of passengers as they get older and all of us are

Now I assume you are educated in this issue, and realize that Carnival Cruise Lines has the Big ships aimed at the young cruiser.

But, as stated in previous posts of yours, you don't like Carnival Corporation...

May I please remind you that Seabourn' s Trio, Legend, Pride and Spirit, are all small intimate cruise vessels... Seabourn is a Carnival company..

May I please remind you that Cunard's legendary Queen Elizabeth 2, and Classic Caronia, both cater for all ages, and the greatest numbers aboard these two ships are people over 50! As Cunard is in the Carnival Corporation, I assume you are un aware that they are not floating fun fares?

May I please remind you of the Windstar ships, one could hardly say they are too big.

Holland America, as I understand, caters for all ages!

With this aside, I do agree however, that it is sad to see Niew Amsterdam up for sale... You have a point with that.... I would have thought that she may have found a home in Cunard... might sound strange, but with the ship needing a large refit after her stunt as Patriot, perhaps she would be able to be re modeled as a British style ship..

That aside, I don't think it is fair to abuse Carnival, and the Carnival directors because they are doing a good job...

And, let us not forget, past passengers of the Carnival Corp (Worlds leading cruise lines) get as much as 20% off cruises from all the brands... that is a BIG saving!!

Well, that's my say.. At least you keep a bit of controversy in the board.

Cheers,

Chris

Dambrosi, I think that you are stealing my tactics.

Make some frivolous, unfounded and outrageous statements, then stand back and see the dust fly.

Bravo, you too may also be a very kind, deep thinking and likeable person like myself, not the ranting rednecks we appear to be.

You prompt me to get out and brush off my files on obnoxious kids on board cruise ships. Might get things rolling. Present thoughts are that 21 should be the minimumm age.

With all due respect, Dambrosi (and I really do mean that), the problem I have with your statements seem to stem from the fact that you think Carnival ships are too big. Yet your favorite ship is the SS Norway, which is larger than three Carnival ships, and around the same size as 10 Carnival ships. Carnival only has three ships (in the Carnival fleet) that are substantially bigger than the Norway. And after having sailed on the Norway and 2 of the biggest Carnival ships, I can assure you that the Norway is more difficult to get around than any mega-ship of today. In fact, I saw a lot more people in wheelchairs on Carnival ships getting along quite nicely than I did on the Norway.

I respect that you like smaller ships. I personally like bigger ships. But I certainly see no reason to disparage lines that only have smaller ships.

Okay, I'm going on the NORWAY for the 3rd time. I know this lady well, I had no trouble getting around her the first time either.
What I'm saying is, everything is just getting out of hand and it does'nt seem that anyone is checking
into all these mergers.
Look everybody, I just wanted to be heard about how
I feel. And how it seems that Carnivore is the "king of the cruise world". And how those who have all this money get pats on the back.
When lines like Premier, Commodore and Regency go down. All had nice ships, it appears most on this forum
are happy about it and can't
wait for Carnivore to take
over the world and Wal-mart
too.
Soooooooo, I'll shut up already!!! Sorry I offended all you Carnival people, that includes Dickinson and
Arison. But, I wish people could pay more attention to what is happening in the industry. QUIT looking at all the $$$$$$$$$$$'s they're making and take on the real issues.

Hey Dambrosi, I happen to like Carnival but I still respect your opinion(since last time i checked everybody was entitiled to one LOL). However from the business side i am sure that they and most others are not without sin and high and mightyness. I agree with you that everytime a Premier or Commadore sect. goes down that it is BAD for the cruise business, ie. the consumers, but in Premier's case I think their bad management shot themselves. Just think they ran the big red boat concept so sucessfully for so many years than strayed from that course, then they went down faster than the titanic, duhh maybe their management should have gone back to what they were doing right for all those years.

Carnival is today as Cunard was of yesterday, both buying other companies and trying to make the big $$$ with the largest ship they can profit on... Only thing different is the rout the ships take and the technology.
I think some of the ships built in 2000 and beyond look kinda nice.
