I read with interest the review written by Geno-R on his first cruise with Holland America on the Noordam.

While I am not a fanatic about HAL, it is at the top of my list as to one of the best cruises available in its category today.

What did interest and amuse me in this elegant report was reference to the few "grumpy" passengers aboard.

On thinking about it, I believe that one of the things that makes HAL unique is that there is always an element that has sailed with them for years and "grumple" around the ship. They are easy to fire up, but are usually self starting.

Contrasting with other lines, HAL is not renowned for its masses of jocks, dillybars and rude kids.
Come to think of it, were these different elements put on a cruise ship together, it might be a pleasure to watch as a bystander. With all those sticks and other weapons I would bet that the HAL grumps would be first to disembark triumphant.

Sympatico is not typified in the above since I know her to be a delightful, gracious and attractive lady! Also, I wish to stay alive.

It's good you said that as I now have a "stick" to hobble around with my gimpy leg and if you had said something nasty you would have been asking for a whump on the leg or other parts of your body.

I'm not saying! No, seriously didn't have to use it on my last cruise. This all happened after I came home, thank goodness or I would have been cancelling.
