We were on the Galaxy in September when she cruised out of Southampton, England and there was absolutely nothing (at that time) that we could have complained about, food, service, everything was fine and we drove to the port too (although a much longer drive for us than for you guys) but still much better as there is just no hassle whatsover lets face it you load up your boot with the luggage and you are in command of when and where you want to stop, what you want to do, arriving at the other end a porter takes it right from your car to the ship, great stuff - no cramped seats on planes, no hassle, no bother. Its just a pity that more of the cruise lines don't position ships here, and even better still if they could start sailing from Scotland I would be in seventh heaven. So hats off to the lines that have decided to position their ships in other places like Baltimore, New Orleans, Boston, etc.
Have a good cruise!!!

Didion Cruises of Washington ran a summer long charter of Rembrandt two years ago, with both high bookings and high satisfaction.
Crown Dynasty homeported Baltimore until it went under, and combined some Philadelphia calls, via the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.
The Port is a natural for the reasons cited in this posting, particularly with no-hassle parking and associated advantages. In addition it is closer to more US popluation centers (say within two hours drive) than NYC. Amtrak serves Baltimore - Dundalk Marine terminal is a reasonable and taxi ride away.
