It's not a very original topic, but here goes:

The new year is fast approaching and ones thoughts obviously turn to 'cruising in 2002'!

Has anyone made plans for next year, or at least had some ideas?

(I'm not short of ideas, just money! )

Oh yeahhhhhhhhhh! Last Christmas we sailed the Inspiration with plans to dive Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Turned out the water was too rough in both ports. Still had a great time! We decided to try basically the same route in March on the Rhapsody and attempt the diving again.

You betcha!

We're sailing on the Maasdam January 13th. And we're also planning on visiting relatives in Wisconsin again this summer, so we'll be going on the Badger again.

We've booked back-to-back cruises on HAL's Veendam for next June. North bound Hubbard Glacier itinerary, south bound is Glacier Bay. Taking 9 year old grandson along.
BTW - sailed The Veendam's E. Carib. cruise last month and to our delight discovered marvelous cuisine. The best we've enjoyed on our previous cruises or in most restaurants.

YES!!! We're going on the
legendary SS NORWAY on April
7th.
The next one, we'll plan
on as soon as we get back.
It's usually in Oct. or early Nov. for the next one. I can't wait to get
back on the NORWAY. What
a dream to be able to sail on her for a 3rd time.
My cameras and money are
ready!!!!

merry christmas and happy
new year everyone!
i am going on the regal empress in april to mexico and central america.
she is a great ocean liner
that is well maintained.
a lot of wood paneling and
glass steciling in her dining
room. look at www.regalcruises.com
in june i will sail on the
ncl sea out of ny. to maine,
halifax,n.s.
on sept i will again sail on
the ncl ss norway to the
east caribbean.
possibly in may i will sail
on the scotia prince out of
portland,maine to nova scotia
she is a cruise/ferry ship
that sails back and forth
between portland,maine and
yarmouth,nova scotia.
she is about 450 ft. long
and has cabins,dining rm.,
casino and entertainment.
that pretty well wraps up my
2002 trips. and i do plan to
fly to get to these destinations. there are no
cruise ships that sail out
of new england in the winter.
i would love to see someone
sail out of ny. to bermuda or
the bahamas in the winter
like the queen of bermuda and
ocean monarch use to!
happy holidays, jeff

Malcolm, Isn´t that the only way to be able to participate on this board? As for plans, a lot as usual. Then there´s always the problem with time. Never enough and hence only one booked so far. On the Brilliance around your islands.

Not everyone seems to realise that!

Recab reminded me of an interesting fact: Has anyone notice that in the various ages of man, you either have lots of time but no money, or lots of money but no time! Oh, to have both at once!

Hope to, and if we do, it's going to be interesting trying out the ship using a scooter for the first time. Maybe a Princess out of Vancouver to Alaska return as I can then drive on and drive off as well.

Hopefully, but don't know when.
Definitely next Christmas, but haven't booked yet - HAL's itineraries are not out yet, I don't think!

You're darned tootin' that I'm going cruising this year. The ZAANDAN in February and the RYNDAM in May. God willing I'll also book on the DELTA QUEEN or MISSISSIPPI QUEEN next year, but not until atleast one of them is out operating for the season.

Pardon the spelling but, Illegitimii non carborundum. I'm sure as heck not going to let them get me!

It's nice to see that CruiseTalkers have not lost their confidence in Travel for 2002!

I have a number of ideas, but no firm plans - yet! I'd like to cruise the Norwegian Fjords. I'd also like to cruise on the QE2, before it's too late. The Mediterranean is not out of the question either, especially if the Rembrandt really does start to operate there again, and she's in good shape? If I ever find the money, South America appeals, Antarctica would be ever better. Dream on!

Any more plans folks?

Hi Malcolm,
Like you, we hope to cruise around the Norwegian Fjords. One advantage is being able to depart from a home port. I have always regarded the flight to the embarkation port as the worst part of a cruise. Nothing to do with Sept. 11th; I just don't like flying and there is a limit to how much walking about you can do in an aircraft on a 9-hour flight.

We spent last Xmas and New Year sailing round Cape Horn from B.A. to Valp. Lucky that we stayed in B.A. LAST year, not now !!
We sail on Radisson's Mercury next week and will spend New Year at sea (Pacific)
I survived the blitzes in Manchester and D.Day in the British army, so no bloody terrorists can scare me away from travelling.

Scorpio, Fred.Olsen has some nice trips to Norway, on his ships. P&O also do, of course. Cunard's Caronia and Airtours Sundream will also visit the Fjords.

Some of the American lines such as NCL were due to visit the Fjords too. I think they still are?

There is a reasonable choice, but I still think that UK cruise prices, from our home ports, are rather high. The fact that we do not need to fly, does not seem to make the price any cheaper!

I really want to do Europe, but with school and all, it's really not an option right now. I may do another Maritime Provinces cruise. I hear NCL, Princess and RCI will be offering good deals to Canada.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!! We are going on the Nordam in March. I really excited about this one. It's our first really long cruise (14 days) and our first time on HAL. 2002 is really the time to cruise! We just made our final payment and can't believe the price came down $550 again. This cruise (14 days) is costing us LESS than 7 days to Bermuda 2 years ago. I wish th events that led up to this dramatic pricing didn't happen however.

We are booked on the Brilliance of the Seas (RCI) on Oct. 2nd out of Boston to New England and Canada. Should be a wonderful time of year, and maybe some fall color in New England. We were orginally booked on the Rhapsody of the Seas and then they changed ships. That's O.K., this one will be almost new at that time. Can't wait.
