The news release I read said the vouchers would be in amounts from $25-55. The amount actually received would depend on the actual cruise booked. The voucher could be redeemed for cash.. but I think it was for only 20% of the face value.. which isn't much.

The whole thing is a shakedown. When they come up with some way to pay the lawyers the required $5-20 million, and only paying a total of $10-25 million they have a settlement. 90% of the coupons get lost. So the whole thing only costs Carnival the attorney fees.
