I predicted last Dec. over on r.t.c. that RCCL would sell the Horizon/Zenith twins sooner than later.....and would sell off Celebrity. I keep looking at RCCL's debt ratio...... and still no improvement.... I also haven't seen too much interest in their recent shelf offering either.
Celebrity is expanding rapidly with three newbuilds, which equals approximately 7,500 more berths.
Their two mid-sized ships Horizon and Zenith (46,000 Tons Approx)are 11 and 9 years old respectively. I can't imagine them retaining them too much longer.
However, these ships are so distinctive that they have almost become part of the Celebrity 'Brand'. It's hard to imagine another cruise line opperating them!

Even their newbuilds, which I appreciate are a little contreversial and not to everyone's taste, are still very individual, and still designed in the 'Celebrity' style.
Maybe Celebrities ships will become tomorrows 'classics'? We done Celebrity!
At the start of this fall's season, Celebrity will have Zenith in Tampa, Horizon in Miami, Century in Ft. Lauderdale, Millennium in Ft. Lauderdale, Infinity in San Juan, Galaxy in San Juan and Summit In Ft. Lauderdale and Mercury doing her South America runs. That's an awful lot of berths to fill...especially on those 10-11 day cruises which were undersubscribed on Zenith and Horizon.
Come summer: Infinity and Mercury head to Alaska... Galaxy and Millennium to Europe... Zenith to NY, Century keeps plugging away out of Ft. Lauderdale......what to do with Summit??????
Possible scenario...... Say bye to Zenith, Century goes to NY for the Bermuda run!!! and Summit stays in Ft. Lauderdale to give the Grand Princess a run for the summer business!
Yes, I know.... Century is much bigger than either Zenith or Horizon. But.... Celebrity is now down to one ship. Century holds only 150 more passengers than RCL's Nordic Empress. She is also cheaper to run than Horizon or Zenith. With one ship on the NYC-Bermuda run, Celebrity can sustain high rates.... and then there are those mini-suite verandahs!!!
Oh....gee.....then there is the last of the quads......M4 .....what to do with her??????
