For some of us the age old shipboard joke about shrinking clothes while on a cruise has become reality.

Browsing the Sears spring catalog I came across some mens dress slacks with a feature known as "comfort fit" flex waistline.
They have just been delivered and work like a charm. The waistband will automatically adjust up to two inches in a fiendishly clever way.

I'm off to sea again in two weeks and these will definitely be in my suitcase.

Ooohhh... are those the trousers which have the little metal clips and slides on the sides???

My salvation during tour season... but I wish I could find them in pastel cottons or silks for cruises.

Yes, they are made for Ladies....Counterparts
is the manufacturer of the pairs I have.

Actually, we ladies have it a little bit easier than you fellas, we can always wear a sun dress - with no waist :-)

"Yes, they are made for Ladies....Counterparts"

By Sears?

Hoping for an early reply.

Green, Sears have similar gizmos on womens clothing. Most of the selection is in the catalog. Quality is surprisingly high.

Re upcoming trip we shall be on Bolero, the original NCL Starward. 16000 tons and usually 6-700 passengers.

Itinerary is Santo Domingo/Curacao/Margarita Island(stay on board)/Grenada/Guadeloup and San Juan.

We tried this and other ships this size after a disaster with RCI two years ago. They are not to everybodys liking. We prefer them for ambience, (lesser passengers), few if any children, drinks at affordable prices, no gold chain by the inch, no art auctions. Meals are surprisingly good. I know that they are looked on as downmarket by some of the megaship officianados. Its each to his own taste.
Regards, have a good trip.

I gain a pound a day on a cruise ship. This is with riding an excercise bike at least 30 minutes daily! I have found when the pants begin fitting uncomfortably tight, I quit slamming down the food so much.
Fortunately for me, I have always been able to take off the added pounds the first two weeks I am back home.

Women can just go to their local maternity store and buy some of those pants with the big expandable waistline and big stomach pouch and then eat all you want!!! Haha!

Hi Topgun - have friends, who could buy and sell us several times over, who love Bolero - they just let their hair down and go with the flow - all depends on what you're looking for.

Bought the Sears pants - I lost a lot of weight whilst I was sick last year and now seem to be gaining it back by leaps and bounds. A 15 day Hawaii cruise may be my undoing.....now I'll have something to wear when we disembark!

When do you leave?

Laura - think I'll skip the maternity department!

Happy Cruisin'

I don't have a need for flex waistline trousers (pants)!

When my belly expands, I just hang it over the waist band. End of problem. No extra expense

(Try it guys, it works!)

But, Malcolm, "Dunlop syndrome" is not acceptable on a lady.

Of course not Ruth! Us men require our women to look slim. We are entitled to get fat. Its how the rules work.

All I can say is on this subject is that its an unfair world - I just need to look at food and gain pounds and my husband has been the same weight since we married 25 years ago. Help! I need to lose around 40lbs before 1st Sept for my nieces wedding and my cruise on the SS Sunbird on the 22 September

Luv Norma

Why? You will not need them when you lose your 401b's.
