Mitch,
NO, NO, YOU ARE WRONG! In SuperStar Gemini which you go next month. She has four Bars & Restaurants. POOR BAR (Poolside Snakes ans Bar), MARINERS BUFFET (International Buffet), BAR GEMINI (Cocktail Lounge and Bar), OCEAN PALACE(Chinese buffet).

She's two main restaurants ~ Mariners Buffet and Ocean Palace, the Showroom, Fitness Centre, Library, Children's playroom.....etc are free of charge.

I think you should not worry about that, STAR CRUISES will service you well. Wish you BON VOYAGE!!!

Thankyou for your replies. Yes the Gemini does not charge extra for dining but the Leo does. If you do not travel in a suite or with a balconey you can only eat for free in 3 out of the 16 resteraunts available. What do you other cruisers think of that? Is this Discrimination???

No...there's only 8 places to eat on there and 4 of those are small specialty places. There is a main dining room and a also a buffet style Lido one. There's 1000 cabins of which 400 have balconies.
Not much different from other new ships except that it looks like you have more choice. Sounds good to me.
As they say, she is the first big one to be dsigned for the Far East market....peter

If in fact this is so, isn't this just what everybody wanted, back to the old standards. Two classes of passengers. Maybe they were reading the "Letting Standards Slip" thread, most seem quite adamant about the fact that they would like a return to the "OLD STANDARDS". In other words, if you don't pay the big bucks, you won't have the freedom to eat everywhere and Gosh knows what else while cruising. Two class cruising, you wanted it, you are getting it but I certainly hope that you can afford it. Remember that when the number of passengers goes down, the individual price starts to go up. 2500 pax at $1500 each or 1000 Pax at $3750 each for a week plus port charges at $150 each will then be $375 each.

Ah, the good old days with their good old standards, Spats and Bustles all day and of course we can't forget the whale bone girdle with the tightening cords.

Hopethisdosen'tspread.

Gohaze, I was quoting the star cruise brochure,
so sorry If that info differs from yours. I was relieved to find out the Gemini was not a 2 class system. I don't think I will be cruising on the Leo.

mitch,
Gemini is not operating two class-system. Only operating in Leo and Virgo.

About this system, STAR CRUISES just promote balcony-class experience and want more passengers book the balcony room. Because in Asia-Pacific, many citizen haven't travel by cruise even live in cruise ships's balcony rooms.

Now, STAR CRUISES are texting this system in this moment, if the respond is bad, they maybe cancel later.

If you have any suggestion about this, you can send e-mail to STAR CRUISES.

Dear mitch,
Don't think that Star is like other cruise lines e.g.HAL, RCCL, Princess. Except Aries & Gemini, which the Star crews told me, are just for Asian passengers. The crew told us that on Gemini & Aries, you'll feel like a "American" ship. But on the others, you'll feel that you are treated unfair comparing with other line. If you are holding a blue card(World Cruiser), you will feel that you are the LOWEST class on the ship, you'll need to pay for everything except 2 or 3 free meals. But if you are holding a red/yellow card(Suite/Balcony), you have any privileges, such as free meals, priority check-in, etc. If you ask me which is the best one among Star Cruises? Try Gemini & Aries, you won't be disappointed.

Hi...go to www.cruisemates.com
there is an interview there with Colin Veitch the new boss of NCL, and he explains about dining on Star and how it works. An interesting article with some insights into the future of NCL....peter
