Hello,
STAR CRUISES now have 20 ships, because they bought Singapore-based SUN CRUISES which operating two 4,000grt cruise ships ~ SUN VIVA I and SUN VIVA II. Now, these two ships will be renamed MEGASTAR SAGITTARIUS and MEGASTAR CAPRICORN, they will become private ships such as MEGASTAR TAURUS and MEGASTAR ARIES. In 2004, STAR CRUISES Group will have more than 25 ships and can carry 25,000 passengers in lower berth. I wish you can give some comment about this, thank you!!

Hi Eric Lee,
These are very good news I think. I knew that SUN VIVA I and SUN VIVA II were laid up since the SUN VISTA sunk because Sun Cruises had some troubles. It´s now very good that Star Cruises, which was formerly a rival of Sun Cruises (remember that the SUN VISTA used to cruise on almost the same schedule like SUPERSTAR GEMINI), took over Sun Cruises and their ships. They are lovely vessels (formerly RENAISSANCE FIVE and SIX) and will fit very well to the currently operating MEGASTAR-ships.

Is Star Cruises listed to stock markets or who owns it? It must have huge debts but then again where did they got money to buy NCL?

Star Cruises financed the purchase of NCL through a USD $600 Million line of credit extended to them by ABN Amro Bank and issuance of stock.

Star Cruises is currently listed on the Hong Kong and Luxembourg Exchanges and plans a further USD $589 MIllion share issue on the HK Exchange to pare down their high debt to equity level.

Star is currently owned by the Goh Tok Lim family through their Holding Company, Genting Bhd.

Str is expected to de-list NCL Holdings in the near future and seek a listing of their own on the Oslo and NY Exchanges.

Yes, STAR CRUISES is a very rich company with their chairman, Dato' K T Lim's big busincess in Malaysia.

So STAR CRUISES can develop super fast within this short 6 years. VERY POWERFUL!

I think STAR CRUISES must becone the largest cruise line in the world as soon as future.
