I have been looking for last-minute cruise deals on local teletext, and while Thomson, Airtours etc. all had deals for around £500, I saw a deal with NCL for October. They had the Crown and the Sea for around £800, but one offer really caught my eye. A week on the Norway, 5 nights in Orlando and two nights in Miami for £699 incluing flights from the UK (London or Manchester I imagine). I don't know what that is in US dollars, but is there similar deals over there?

If my calculations are corect that's between $1200. and $1400. U.S. That is an awesome deal! There is nothing like that here. Especially including airfare. I wonder what kind of hotels come with that? Great deal for americans though if we were offered it.

Paddy, I've Cruised on a 'Teletext' deal with Celebrity. It's a great way to save money, as they discount the empty cabins. You will always get a better deal than the brouchure or high street.

UK Teletext: Ch3, page 227/228

All those good deals!!! - seems that Americans and Britishers fare better than we Canadians. I'm not saying we don't get any deals, we just don't seem to get as many.

I should also mention a great deal my aunt got with a UK sattelite channel, TVTravel Shop. 8 nights on RCI's Legend of the Seas round the med for just over £900. She also got free upgrades to business class on a Qantas Airlines 747 to Barcelona from Heathrow to Barclona, en route to Sydney, because she was a member of their travel club, which costs £20 to join. This channel has really good deals on many vacations. I will keep you all posted!

Great deals are always around, but you may have to look for them. Canadians do, indeed, get the shaft. Maybe they should elect a different government!

At any given time, you can pick up deals like a cabin for four on a 7-day Carnival cruise for about $1400. I haven't paid more than about $800 per person for a 7-day cruise in a long time.

Let's get real about all these great deals - are you including port charges, applicable taxes, transfers, round trip air etc?

If you don't live at (or very close to) a cruise departure point, airfare and taxes can add a substantial amount to the bottom line of the cost of a cruise. For example - on a group discounted 10 night cruise in November - Mexican Riviera - HAL outside cabin, air, port charges, taxes, transfers included - FROM $3140.00CAD.

Green, as far as I know, they do include these "extras". The reason they give away late cruises so cheap is that the more people on board, the more money they make. On my cruises on Airtours' Carousel, our bill came to over £700 for a week. And most UK deals include flights at least from Heathrow, Gatwick, or Manchester. If they don't include regional flights too, this can set you back as little as £50 per person RETURN. So they really are superb value.

I cruised last summer on RCL's Song of America NY to Bermuda (we live within driving distance of the port) for $575 a person for an outside cabin with a large window w/o port charges. We booked on 7/3 for a 7/26 cruise through Moment's Notice. In January we went on the Sensation and paid $495 a person w/o port for a standard category 4 inside cabin. However, after I booked I saw a deal for the same cruise for $479 inside and $549 outside. The best prices I ever saw were a last minute deal the first week in December for the Inspiration out of San Juan for $329 inside and $379 outside. The prices are being quoted in American dollars.

I think the best deal I ever heard of was a special out of Miami for $400, including round-trip airfare from Dallas. It was some special promotion (I think on RCI) and was completely booked the same day it came out.

It helps to have your agent keeping an eye out for you. At one point we had ours watching for such things with instructions to book as soon as she saw it, then check with us!

Hi there

Well I am cruising over the New Year. This is a package called "Cruise & Stay". First week in Cancun in 5* hotel and then board the MS Carousel (Airtours) for the second week. Considering it is the New Year Period the cost is quite reasonable at £1800 per person which is all inclusive first week and everyone exclusing drinks the second!!!!

I thought that was a good price!

I live in London, UK. The weird thing is that European Cruises from the British Ports like Dover and Southampton, which I can drive to, are NO CHEAPER than many of the American fly-Cruises (including Tax, Flights etc)
