We are 3 couples in early 40's that are looking for a recommendation on a line for Greek Island Cruise. We want an island, not ship, experience. We are currently looking at Royal Olympic and Orient Lines. Can anyone give me a recommendaiton or their feedback on a cruise they have taken. THANKS

If you do not care too much about the ship, but more about the islands you´ll see, then cruise with Royal Olympic Cruises. They are specialists about the Greek Islands and Greece and they are the only line which is offering such destination-intensive cruises like no other line. The ships are smaller and older but NOT bad ones. They are comfortable, service is friendly and they have a very warm and familiar ambiance. Because they are smaller, they can stop at islands where big liners like the ones of Costa or Holland America for example couldn´t stop. And believe me that the smaller Greek Islands are very charming because they are not filled up with tourists.
Royal Olympic is the best deal for this cruise.
Orient Line´s MARCO POLO is a wonderful ship, I like it very much but would suggest it more on a longer cruise where you also have other countries like Egypt, Israel, Tunesia or whatever else. For the Greek Islands it´s already too large since it could only dock at more famous islands such as Myconos or Santorini.

Airtours do cruises around the Greek Islands from Cyprus during the summer on the Seawing. From what I hear they are very good, and from experience, I can tell you that the Seawing is a very nice little ship. Try the airtours (www.airtours.co.uk) website, or the Sunquest (www.sunquest.ca)site for more info. apart from anything else, they are much cheaper than most lines.

I went around the Greek Islands on Royal Olympic's "Olympic Countess" last year and can warmly recommend it. We covered Crete, Santorini, Rhodes, Patmos and Mykonos and also went to Istanbul and Kusadasi (Ephessos) in Turkey. No problems with anything and a really nicely mixed international crowd, well managed by the staff, who spoke four and more languages. All tours were well arranged. The ship has had a refit (an ex-Cunard liner), and I was very comfortable. It's not as posh as say Princess Lines, but perfectly fine.
