I was on assignment in Mazatlan, Mexico and discovered a familiar ship docked in the port. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to go aboard and look around. Here's a video of my visit to the Ocean Star Pacific, or ex-Nordic Prince. It's best to watch the video in HD if you can.

Thank You Barry for this wonderful video.
I made a seven day cruise on her as Carousel in 2002 around the Canary Islands and Madeira.
It was my first real cruise, and I really loved this ship.
I do hope she will be back in service some day.

Great video. She looks in fairly good shape (engines and systems aside) but of course may never sail again.

I have heard from an ex Cruise Director from the Ocean Star Pacific, that she is probably going for scrap. Too many mechanical issues.

The guy who owns her thought he could rehab her back into some form of service. But from all the reports the mechanics are pretty well shot at this point. She will likely be recycled soon.

I just got news that the Ocean Star Pacific was SOLD yesterday. Don't know who bought it. It is still docked in Mazatlan. Not sure if a scrapper bought it. As I find out more, I'll put a message here.

OK...**Update**
The Ocean Star Pacific was sold to be used as a floating hotel or refurbished for cruising. That's good news!

Looking at the last inspection report it looks as if she will need some major repair work before she could be returned to service.

I still think she will go for scrap !
