I went for afternoon tea once, in the observation deck near the top of the tower. You can't even approach the hotel unless you have a reservation to stay or to eat, and the forecourt is designed so that the front entrance can be quickly screened from paparazzi lenses. It's pretty swish inside, but gaudy (like so much of Dubai), and if I were looking for luxury and pampering I can think of other hotels of this class at which I'd prefer to stay.

A shot of the interior atrium, looking up, and one of the shadow of the hotel lying near its also-iconic neighbour, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

It is 5 years since I went to Dubai, but to visit the Burj for afternoon tea one had to pre-book a few days in advance. We didn't go, but did take a number of photos. You can see the gates in the first one. You won't get through as Globaliser said. The ships offer an excursion for the afternoon tea but numbers are quite limited and expensive. We hired a boat one day from the hotel we stayed at to take us around The Palm and Burj.

More here.

I'll have a video to post soon, but I stayed in two-bedroom suite #1210,with butler service. I was in the master bedroom and there was a mirror on the ceiling above the bed....too bad my wife wasn't with me on this trip. I had a great view of Palm Island. I loved all the little amenities in the room and the high-tech control panel that closed the curtains, turns on the TV, and calls the butler. As a big fan of steam and sauna, I luxuriated in the men's spa, and thought the spa attendant was a nice touch....as he brought in a cool scented towel while I was steaming. The suite was absolutely palatial and fit for a king. I've never experienced such a luxurious suite, and wonder how I'm going to top this experience. Dubai is a city where their structures are over-the-top and excessive, tallest building, largest mall, seven-star luxury hotel. Burj Al Arab was certainly over-the-top, but in a good way. The gilded lobby with dancing waters was beautiful, the entire hotel had such an intricate attention to details, but the suite was truly comfortable and welcoming.

Just curious, how much does one pay for suite #1210?

I checked out the price on Hotels.com and found the pricing to be about $6,000 per night including taxes. You can get a room, however; for around $2,500 per night for a one-bedroom

Not so sure the mirrors above the bed are for longtime married couples.

Ok. Riddle me this Barry.

You post back in early January that you will be staying at one of the most expensive hotels in the world and ask if anyone else has stayed there or visited. Turns out two CT'er have actually visited the hotel and post comments and pictures.

Upon your return, you post a gushing review (soon to be followed by a video - hopefully sans any above bed mirror shots).

Obviously, you did not pay 6,000 per night and were probably comped the room.

What the dealio? Are you trying to convince CTers that we should pay 6K per night (2.5k discounted) to stay there? Was part of your deal with the hotel that you would post your gushing review as many places as possible? Have you posted to TripAdvisor and Yelp yet?

Just curious - what you are trying to accomplish?

I think of CT as a community of friends, especially those of us who have been posting here for many years. I was excited about the privilege and opportunity to feature this hotel on my show, so I shared it here with my friends...sorry if you're offended. I thought it was cool. One of my objectives with this whole trip is to highlight UAE as a unique itinerary and the hotel as a pre or post-cruise luxury option for the Silversea, Seabourn, Cunard, or Crystal market. There were a few passengers on Brilliance of the Seas who were also guest at this hotel post cruise for two nights.

This video is only about five minutes long. The hotel did not disappoint and far exceed my expectations. Loved the spa and steam room...it was interesting when the spa attendant brought in a cool towel while I was steaming. I felt like royalty for the day. Butler packed my luggage, and the full-size Hermes products were a treat. I still wear the Burj Al Arab slippers every morning at home, they are so comfortable.

Hi

I think it would be more interesting to see a video from someone who has stayed aboard the ex Mona Lisa, now named Veronica.

All these videos about hotels are much the same !

I would feel uncomfortable at this hotel. Like being a phoney!! I just don't belong there.
@ $6000/night you could do at least a12/14day cruise for that. And be on a premium cruise line.
I stayed at a high class hotel in Beverly Hills for a few nights and it was pricey but my company booked it not me. As a matter of fact on the last day I moved over to a hotel by the airport.
Fit my style of being practical and thrifty.

My Wife and I stayed at the Burj Al Arab twice. Both times is a panoramic suite.Once for $1800 and once for $2200. The mirror over the beds can be covered as we mentioned it our first trip as something we didn't like and the secoond time our Butler asked if we would like it covered and so it was in the matter of minutes with a nice fitted sheet that looked like art on the ceiling. I also mentioned that there was no Diet Pepsi only Coke products and was told that on our next stay there would be Diet Pepsi in my room. Sure it's phoney and a waste of money but you only live once.
We stayed from 12:00noon checking till 12:00noon check out and got the whole 24 hours out of the room. We also were invited to the water park next door where they treat you like a King and Queen as you are given special wrist bands that designate you as a Guest of the Burj.
Our videos are on www.statravelblogs.com/keithandjoy if I knew how to move one here I would but I can't. All in all it was a good time. If anybody knows how the videos are on the video page near the bottom.

Steeplechase, I loved your videos of the Burj! It certainly is over-the-top but, like you said, you only live once....I say live life to the fullest! Burj is one of those bucket-list experiences. I've been fascinated by the actual building (structure) for years, so it was thrill to be able to stay there. I still didn't have enough time to do all that I wanted to experience at the Burj. I didn't eat in any of the restaurants...so next time, I'll have to spend more time there and try out the exquisite cuisine.

We've been there twice and haven't done everything there was to do. Tiger Woods and Rodger Fedder were there the last time we were there.Had a Corona upstairs at the bar it was $50 American! Again I don't live this way but it was fun to try it. Make sure they cover that mirror next time was it creepy or what? I want to go back just to see if they do stock Diet Pepsi for me. They remembered us and asked about our business like we were old friends.I am sure they just plugged in a computer to see notes on us but who cares.

I have recorded 18 people now who watched my Burj Al Arab video, and decided to book a suite because they were so enamored by my video. They private messaged me or emailed me with questions, and after they returned from their visit, told me how much they enjoyed their stay.

I have seen other results like this too particularly those who watched my Yangtze River trip to China with Viking River Cruises. I mention this because it is gratifying to know that my videos have made a difference and many have been inspired by the content and reviews.
